  • 🤓🌱‼️ TIP: Getting to know your succulents- Another sign for checking if your succulent needs to be watered is by looking at its leaves 🍃 . In my mind I already know that I haven’t watered this guy for a couple of weeks now (by the way, succulents can still live weeks after they haven’t been watered and their soil has been completely dry— that’s how amazing succulents are, they carry a lot of water in their leaves) though it may survive weeks if left dry, at one point it will NEED water. 💦 .
⚠️ It will start giving you signs- I can tell by the crinkled leaves in this burros tail, how it is wrinkled or a bit shriveled. It’s letting me know that it needs a good drink!
.
🌵✔️Afterwards I show you my favorite method in checking for moisture with a wooden screwer, in which I’ve posted about in previous posts. Sure enough the screwer is dry and clean, therefore letting me know the soil is completely dry and it’s definitely time for watering! 🚿 .
🌱 The leaves should plump up soon after watering [ i will show you before and after pictures in another post> stay tuned for that 😃]

  • ❗️👾🌱Here is an update on the trio! As you can see, the outer body is splitting away. They are awake and growing during these winter months. You’ll most likely see lithops in nurseries, at this stage right now, with the outer leaves beginning to dry up, as the new ones arise. [ I like to think of it as “shedding”] This is the time when no water should be given. The outer leaves or body is beginning to dry up, that is because the new body is taking all the water away from the old body. The outer leaves will eventually dry completely and shrivel up, and by that time you can gently remove them from the new body. This is when it becomes safe to begin watering again. .

  • 🌕🌚💦 🌱 {{UPDATE}} Moonstone is finally in soil after being in water since November 2018- you can check out its growth in my highlights in the “Experiments” section. I let the moonstone tip callous or scab over for a couple days before putting it in water. It was in plain tap water, and more recently I started adding rain water. I add water once I notice the water level lowering down due to the roots taking in some, as well as evaporation. I never took this guy out from it’s container, so the roots got tangled up, I gently loosened them up with a wooden screwer. >>>> Many of you ask where I get these containers for my water propagation. This specific one is actually an old contact lense case. 😅 .
