Our community center takes pride in our commitment to engage and serve communities that need our help. Yesterday on Friday, June 13th, Zakat Foundation Delaware youth came all the way up from Middletown to volunteer at Bellevue Community Centers monthly Fresh Food Giveaway. We are always glad to assist in sharing the food generously donated by Trader Joes, Food Lion and Wawa with the local food insecure Delawareans. Be sure to contact us for information on how to volunteer!
This group of young ladies was awarded a special recognition for their efforts in raising funds for @chesschelmsford
They sat outside in boxes all day in the netball courts completing their school work to raise awareness of one of our countries biggest issues of homelessness.
Keep up the important work you are doing to support your community #socialaction#youthled#makeyourmark#bekind
Working with bees, coming from a place or value and respect not from a place of "we want their honey". Ayse and Gracie, inspecting their first hive. Both 14 years old. This colony has been very weak and I put them into a smaller 'nuc' box to help them build up strength in a smaller surface area. A good way of starting my novice beekeepers too. Enclosed by the hazel fencing in my garden apiary.
I had a conversation at work yesterday with @poojaa_02 about how we love to dance. That when we dance, the world seems to disappear. Things like our shame, fears, and insecurities. Somehow the music and the movement of our bodies bring us closer to other people and, even more so, ourselves. Part of my research also uses Arts-Based methods in dance & theatre arts to help youth lead their peers in discovering their sexualities and self-determination. Embodying all parts of us (the joy and the pain) is critical to how we love and show grace to ourselves, others, and the land around us. It starts with how we build a healthy relationship with our own bodies, minds, souls, spirits. Thankful that NGOs like PRIA believe in our next generation of youth in India 🇮🇳 #youthled#dance#dancetherapy#artsbasedresearch#embodiment#thesis#participatoryactionresearch#sexuality#selfdetermination#qescholars#capiuvic#uviccapi
Wear it Purple Day ANNOUNCEMENT! 💜Our purpose is to strive to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people.
The theme for Wear it Purple Day 2019 is 'Stand Up. Stand Out.' - paying tribute to those who’ve paved the way for LGBTIQ+ people and welcoming the positive impact of those who are able to be out, proud and visible.
We recognise that not everyone can feel safe to come out and this year we want to connect people to the stories of those who have lived their truth and flourished.
This is also the year to recognise our LGBTIQ+ allies, friends, family and colleagues – it’s time to Stand Up, and Stand Out for LGBTIQ+ young people.
Our new website and online store will launch later this week - stay tuned for updates!
Most importantly - don't forget to mark Wear it Purple Day on Friday 30 August! 🏳️🌈 #lgbtiq+ #allies#pride#wearitpurple#standupstandout#iweigh#pride#empoweryouth#youthled#righttobeproud#rainbowyouth@i_weigh@wear_it_purple
