Here are a few movements to loosen your spine, improve your balance and engage your core to keep you flowing out on the trails.

Stretchy-feel good part
Start on all fours / knees under the hips and hands under the shoulders. 
Roll the mid back up toward the sky with an exhale, while engaging your core... then smoothly roll down into extension, while you are inhaling.
Do a few reps in this linear pattern then take the movement three-dimensional by rolling the hips and shoulders out and around laterally.

Core and Balance Challenge
Coming back to center, engage your core and extend your left leg and right arm straight out and parallel to the ground. While maintaining level hips bring your elbow and knee towards each other as you exhale. Inhale as you bring the leg and arm back to the beginning extend position. Do a few reps on each side.
Swipe for the next part 👈🏼
Next you will extend your left leg back behind you and your right arm out to the side. Inhale and rotate your torso and right arm up towards the sky. Exhale and bring the same arm under and through, without touching the ground. A strong core will help you maintain balance. Do a few reps on each side.

Relax 🙏🏼
Come into a comfortable child's pose with your knees open.

Respect and appreciate the differences in balance and strength in each side. Remember to always move with the breath and be mindful of your core.

  • Some say he secretly has all the KOM’s on these trails, and that he taught @gregminnaar how to ride...all I know is that his name is ‘Howie’; and he’s the mascot of the Howick mtb club. Rain or shine he keeps an eye on the goings-on in this forest. He has seen some of the greatest mountain bikers in SA pass his hut... and only comes out to ride when there is nobody else around. Some say he secretly has all the KOM’s on these trails, and that he taught @gregminnaar how to ride...all I know is that his name is ‘Howie’; and he’s the mascot of the Howick mtb club.
