I’ve traveled & accomplished some amazing things already in 2019 which I’m pretty proud about and happy to share.

I’ve decided to make some lifestyle changes this year and re-focus on my health, fitness and wellbeing similar to before I started (@aussieescapades travel & tours). I’m going to start with a reflection of my 3 peaks event in March earlier this year. Just 5 weeks before the event I started riding 200km a week to try and get enough endurance to tackle this gruelling event.

3 peaks is a one day 235km bicycle ridel/ loop which entails over 4000m of vertical ascent within a 13hour deadline. This event is held in the Alpine region of Victoria where the conditions are harsh and forever changing.

This would be the third time doing this event with my personal best time in 2016 being (9h 58m) under 10h. With the little training and preparation I had done, I knew I couldn’t set my expectations to high and just wanted to get the passion back for being back on the bike!!! Considering the little training and preparation I had done I felt good and rode pretty well until I hit the 200k mark and was greeted with the devil, the back of Falls WTF CORNER. -

The weather took a turn for the worst, it rained harder & heavier, the wind got stronger/ colder and the road got steeper & steeper. Lots of people forfeited and gave in but I was determined to keep pushing through the pain until I broke the back of Falls Creek and screamed all the way to the finish line !!! I finished the day with a 11h 33m not bad for someone who crammed their training like a school kid does for a last minute exam!!
