Been feeling really big around my stomach area & I used to be so conscious about it... I mean in that first picture you can see why, but I’ve struggled so much shifting that ring! I went to the gym today after almost two weeks off. I’m taking it really slow now and doing minimum weights and a lower setting on the cross trainer, for no other reason than I am a walking marshmallow and I pushed myself faster than what my body is capable of yet. Gained all the weight back but I have no big plans until October so there’s nothing to prep for and I can take my time and relax with this. I also need to figure out the ideal time to go to the gym because my hours are increasing and 5pm is hecka busy at @energiefitnessbridgend . Ever seen another nutrition “influencer” do THIS?! Haha sorry, I had to! My entire life has been devoted to music. I lived and breathed the stage for the past 17 years. But remember, entertainers are just normal people. Life happens. And when life side-swiped me, it brought Health & Wellness front and center and FORCED me to start paying attention. 💥💣

I kind of have the Monday blues today.
Some days you just feel down for no reason. I used to over exercise to make myself feel better.
Now, I just feel the feels. It’s okay to feel down, feel sad, feel bummed for no reason.
I now embrace it because I know these feelings are temporary and I know I have so much to be grateful for.
Whenever I get in these moods I have a few hacks to lift my spirits:
1. Get outside- take a walk
2. Embrace alone time- give yourself space
3. Make a nourishing meal just for you or treat yourself to a meal out. Like this salad from @true_food_kitchen TFK always lifts my spirits
4. Focus on your work and your goals. There’s nothing like working for a goal to make you excited and energized
5. Reach out to a friend. Often times talking to others helps you get out of your own head.
I’m sharing this today because mental health is so important and no one is happy all the time. That’s just not realistic.

All those “shiny… quick & easy” health and weight loss programs, supplements, products, diets… they are the “dollar store” of the fitness industry. 🤯

My boys always want to go to the dollar store (especially my youngest... he's not the 'saver' in the family).
When my kids want to spend their money in the dollar store I let them… but I make sure that they understand that any toys they buy in the dollar store will NOT LAST very long.
I like to call this the “dollar-store mentality”. Approach anything you buy in that store with the mentality that it most likely will not last very long.
My boys understand that… but sometimes they want to spend their money NOW instead of waiting until they have more to get a higher quality toy.
Aren’t women often like that when it comes to wanting to lose weight, get healthy, have more strength…. They want it NOW.
Beware when you are looking for a health and/or weight loss program or product. All the “shiny” health and fitness … weight loss… programs, supplements, products, diets that are out there…. You know the ones…. They promise you’ll lose ___ weight/inches/body fat in 30-60 days.
I want to caution you to approach these with a “dollar-store mentality”. You’ll get satisfaction (maybe) for a short period of time, but nothing will last long-term. And then what happens…you gain the weight back, you lose the strength… then you lose confidence and struggle to feel like you are a failure or that you just don’t deserve success.
All because you wanted the results NOW without actually changing anything with your mindset, habits, routines, or knowledge of how & why… without any kind of PLAN or COACH to lead you to long-term success that will work WITH your family!
If you want long-term results that are sustainable… and that work with your busy-mom life… you have to approach it as a long-game.
Quality over quantity!

I am not telling you it is going to be easy… but I am telling you it is going to be WORTH it!
Took yesterday off to relax, meal prep, go to church. I can definitely tell I took a break. Back at it today with walking/running 3 miles. Think I’m going to stay at 3 miles and gradually up my pace!! My feet are getting blistered and sore if I do any more than that. Just listening to my body and following its lead!!
