Hello world! I have been MIA for a while.
Last week was officially my last week of full veganism, at least for now. Unfortunately for me because I fully enjoyed my plant based diet but my health demands more nutrition from other sources and it's time to practice "ahimsa" towards myself. I was diagnosed with damaged tendons and a ligament in my right hand. My hand has been in a cast for almost two weeks now. Everyone is asking the same question - "Is it yoga?" and I honestly don't think so, especially after talking to a few specialists. There are tons of other questions, like: - How do you cook now? - I almost don't, my father- in- law has replaced me in the kitchen. How do you wash your hair? - I don't. I go to the salon to have it washed and the guys love me there and feel a bit sorry for me. How do you do handstands? - I don't, I do Pincha instead, work on my core, shoulders, back, stretch, etc. 😎
I'm pretty realistic about things and don't expect miracles so I'm very much prepared to have surgery on my hands and a very long recovery. However, if I was thinking about things I can't do anymore I would go into mental breakdown so, inhale, exhale and carry on! 😇
Here is my lentil bolognese with quinoa pasta, vegan mozzarella and tons of fresh parsley to cheer myself up! Very filling, very tasty and satisfying. Shall I post a recipe? Shall I? 😉😉
Ginger Caroot Juice ----Vegetable juices are Uber healthy for our body and skin. Apart from applying them on my face, I also like to drink a combination of vegetable juices to boost energy, blood circulation, for detox, balancing acidity, etc. People who don't like to eat vegetables that often, should have a glass of vegetable juice every day to keep their body healthy and skin glowing.
There are various combos of vegetable juices, but this one is my favourite. I like to add a pinch of salt and black pepper to make it even more delicious. It's called the 'GINGER ZINGER JUICE'. 🥕🍋
Carrot + Ginger + Lemon
Carrots are high in antioxidants like carotenoids which gives them the reddish colour and are converted into Vitamin A by the body that helps in cell regeneration thus treating dry skin and overall texture of your skin. These antioxidants also scavenge on the free radicals that are activated by sun's UV rays that break down skin cells.
Ginger is a great source of vitamins and amino acids. It boosts immune system, treat allergies, pain and gastrointestinal problems and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Lemon, as we all know is a magical ingredient. It has umpteen skin and health benefits. It eradicates toxins from the body, prevents oxidative stress, promotes weight loss and purifies blood for a glowing skin.
Try this recipe and let me know what's your favourite vegetable combo juice in the comments section below!!! 💚🌿
It’s common knowledge that sweet potato is superior to the regular potato, right?? 🧐 Actually, WRONG! When the sweet potato rose to fame the humble potato took a beating, being demonised and made out to be the evil sibling to the sweet potato.
Here’s the facts:
👉🏼 Sweet potato has more vitamin A than regular potato (hence it’s orange colour)
👉🏼 Regular potato has more potassium 👉🏼 Sweet potato has more dietary fibre
👉🏼 Regular potato has more resistant starch - this cannot be broken down by the body so it feeds the bacteria in our gut (a good thing!!) especially when it’s cooked then cooled 👉🏼 The other nutrients are pretty similar between the two
Where does this leave us? Let’s eat BOTH! If you have a preference then eat that one and if not, variety is always a great idea 🤓❣️
