  • Little #tbt to one month into joining the gym and now, almost four years later.

In the first photo I knew what I wanted from the gym, but I had no idea how to go about it. I wanted to be “toned” and create shape. I thought to achieve this I had to do constant cardio with the odd free weight/machine exercises, go to the gym 6 times a week and restrict my diet.

I was spending at least half an hour on the treadmill every single session before I’d even touched a weight/machine. I had no idea what sets/reps to do so I’d just wander from one machine to the other and then go home. I was barely eating because I assumed getting “fit” meant strict diets and skipping carbs.

In the second photo I very rarely do cardio, if I do its always a short HIIT workout. I go to the gym 4/5 times a week, lifting weights that challenge my body, and I’m no longer restricting my diet. I’m eating what I want, when I want, aiming to maintain that 80/20 balance when it comes to treats.

Toning isn’t a thing, the best way to create shape to your body and build muscle is through resistance training, using weights that challenge you and progressing those weights, and most importantly making sure to fuel yourself with food!

I have more cellulite than before (yep I had it in the first photo, nearly everyone has it no matter what weight you are), and I definitely have more body fat. I also have more stretch marks from where I’ve built muscle, but, I’m happy! That should always always be the main goal!

Having cellulite, stretch marks and body fat is completely normal and so is having a bad day about it. We only get one body, focus on embracing every single bit of it 💗✨ #throwbackthursday #gym #progress #fitnessjourney #training #weights #weighttraining #strength #strengthtraining #fit #fitness #legs #legday #glutes #womenwholift #health #lifestyle #motivation #dedication #personaltrainer #everyoneactive #middlesbrough Little #tbt to one month into joining the gym and now, almost four years later.
