As with all lifts your anatomical make up, as well as your level of strength, skill and proprioception, all play a fundamental role in your ability to squat with correct form under load

@kriti_u and I have been working for some time on improving her squats. One of the main issues she's had is being able to hold a strong brace and prevent herself folding forwards in the bottom of the lift
.
This week we tried something a little different that seemed to make a big difference. By elevating her heels just a little bit, we changed the angle of her shin throughout the lift and reduced the requirement for dorsiflexion (bend in the ankle) this automatically put her into a more upright position
.
What was immediately apparent to Kriti on her first lift was the need to hold a strong brace throughout the entire rep and not just the top portion
.
Our main aim of the session was to get her feeling stronger and more stable throughout the movement. I put no requirement on depth of squat at this stage, this will come in time
.
In addition to a strong squats Kriti carried her new found brace over to her OHP and hit a nice looking PB set of 15.5kg
.
Again there are parts of these lifts we can tidy up but have you ever seen such a clean PB set?? .
Not only does Kriti put the work in during our sessions, she has also found that attending Pilates once a week has really helped her to understanderstand how to brace her core and maintain this control
