.:Book Series Review:. I opened up Tainted and was immediately swept in by the fantastic steampunk world the books are set in. I mean I love steampunk so of course I was sucked in. Everything from the airships to the clothing was so wonderfully described and so steampunk. But let's stop me right there!! Onto other things! Like the characters. I loved them all. (Especially Stephen. He was so cool.) I loved them all except for Dr. Bloodmayne (I mean, he IS the villain. Talk about a creep.) And everyone needs a friend like Marianne!! She wasn't the cliche boy-obsessed, snooty friend most every book seems to have. She was loyal and so concerned about Kat and it was so sweet.
As for the plot, it was kind of dark. Dr. Bloodmayne does some pretty dark, disturbing things but there isn't much detail about it. Kat's power is dark, too. When she uses it she goes a little crazy and loses control to the 'monster' inside her. I loved the faith elements of the story too and how Kat called to God for help. Overall, I loved them and I'd give them four stars! .
Content: Kat gets a little tipsy in one scene. Dr. Bloodmayne is creepy, as I said in my review. :::minor spoilers::: stephen finds his fiancée in bed with another man. no true details are really given but it is perfectly clear what was going on. Also, Dr. Bloodmayne experiments on dead bodies and even near-death people. He's said to have used dark arts on himself. He also experiments on Kat and uses cruel methods to trigger her powers. :::End spoilers::: .
