New Birdbox everyone!
Today's dinner: CHEESY CHICKEN SHEPHERD'S PIE
8/10. This meal is dedicated to my cousins whom I affectionately refer to as The Nosbigs (Aunt Barbara's family for the late person) since they were the ones that first invented this dish. "This is their story:" Once they had Shepherd's Pie when I was over there and it was really good. I had never had it before. The end.
Man that prep work to chop everything took FOREVER!! How do you guys dice your onions?? That was the trickiest part.
This meal could have fed three people and plobly all of Africa.
Oh and I added hot sauce because you can't not have hot sauce. "You can't eat cats. You can't eat cats, Kevin." #shotononeplus@hellofresh
Banaras or Varanasi is an 11th century holy city and is also regarded as the spiritual capital of India. There are thousands of temples in Varanasi including Kashi Vishwanath temple which is considered as one of the 12 jyotirlinga temples in world.
I visited Varanasi as a solo traveller to celebrate my birthday. 😄 Yeah you read that right ; solo birthday celebrations, I do that sometimes to get the sense of where you are going and what you actually want to go.🙂
It was a very unique and different experience in a good way. Its crowded as most Indian cities but everything seems to work. I visited all the ghats from one end to other walking all the way across on the banks of river ganga. I did not plan a walk but I just kept walking on the banks a d reached the other end enjoying the view.
I also visited Sarnath , which is about 10 KM's from Varanasi. Sarnath is the place where Gautam Buddha gave his first teachings after attaining enlightenment. In my opinion it's a must visit place if you are in Varanasi.
One of the most beautiful experience I had was during an early morning boat ride on river ganga. The light so beautiful and sunrise was one of the most magnificent experience I had in long time. Words can't describe the feelings ; you will have experience it yourself.
Kashi Vishwanath temple is another important and must visit place ; it has a unique energy , you can feel it when you are around it. A word of caution, watch out for monkey's and be prepared to stand in a long queue as usually there is a huge rush at this place.
Another must do is to attend the evening Aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat.
It was an mesmerizing experience to witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony. Take a seat on one of the boats and you can enjoy the entire Aarti from the front side.
The above picture was taken during evening Aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat in July 2018.
