⚽️Goal: 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 @philfoden
A solid win against familiar, tough opponents, keeping a clean sheet and young Phil Foden scoring the winner in only his 2nd PL start of the season. I didn’t watch the full 90 as I was late returning from Bath after visiting some relatives, but I got there after about 25 minutes and saw the remainder of the match. It was a well-fought win with not an awful amount of chances for either side. What they threw at us, Ederson saved everytime and our attempts were either off target, or comfortable for Hugo Lloris’ understudy, Paulo Gazzaniga. However, we got off to the best of starts, we were quick off the block, and out for revenge. Bernardo Silva worked the ball well to Sergio Aguero, who flicked on for Phil Foden, who was unmarked at the back post with the easiest of finishes, nodding home after 5 minutes, to put the Blues in front. The performance after that kind of went down hill but the defence was very solid thankfully, but I think the players looked quite tired, understandably after running themselves into the ground on Wednesday night. I remember one huge chance in the 2nd half, when substitute, Leroy Sanè did well to pull back for Raheem Sterling, whose weak footed attempt was denied by the Argentine stopper. The players grew frustrated with the quite ridiculous number of decisions going against us, due to the incompetence of Michael Oliver. Bernardo Silva vs Danny Rose was a fierce battle on City’s right wing and Raheem Sterling got into some trouble which was hardly his fault, Jan Vertonghen and Gazzaniga both stirring up some drama at the Etihad. Bernardo was excellent, Phil looked comfortable again, Razza was a threat and the defence was great. All of these positives were dampened by the substitution of Kevin de Bruyne due to another muscular injury. Thankfully, it’s not his knee again but it’s not good news, we needed him to e available for the run-in, especially with the form he’s in. Anyway, a huge 3 points, but in the grand scheme of things, it won’t mean anything if we don’t win the derby on Wednesday. Let’s keep it up boys! Come on City!💙🦈
