Hubster and I were in the north part of our island and so we decided to go to Jalan Kayu for Prata. When we got to the area, we were very pleasantly surprised that roads and car parks have been upgraded and there were quite a few unfamiliar eateries that have popped up ... well, it has been a good couple of years since we've been in this area.
So we went to the well known institution for its Prata and Indian Rojak. Hubster ordered his favourite Chicken Murtabak ( shredded spiced chicken stuffed in prata pastry) and I had the Mutton Curry.with An Egg and Plain Pratas. .
Both tasted as fantastic as we remembered it to be ... BUT ... We forgot how big the portion was for the Murtabak. That, in the photo, was a medium portion. It was folded in half already and it was almost the size of a sheet of A4 size paper!!! As big an eater as the Hubster is he had to leave about 1/4 of it behind 😅😅
The Dace Fish Balls with Thick Bee Hoon was nothing to shout about as the fish balls lack the HK flavour that I was looking for, but the bee hoon do remind me of 香港茶餐厅的米线。Best bet when you visit Mui Kee is still their unforgettable silky smooth congee! #kpffood#sgfood
The wok hei filled claypot frog legs with ginger & spring onion at Mui Kee is flavorful, but a tad too oily & not spicy enough for me. Overall still a delicious dish to pair it with their silky & smooth plain congee. 有镬气的砂煲姜葱田鸡配上丝滑的白粥的确是绝配！#kpfyummy#kpffood#sgfood#comfortfood#muikee
The claypot liver with ginger & spring onion at Mui Kee Congee is simply divine! The wok hei flavor lingers in your palette plus the crunchiness of the liver cooked with the flavorful HK style sauce is simply awesome pairing it with plain congee! However, the fried diced fish cake served with fermented clam sauce & ginger was of a little disappointment, although it does have a tinge of HK flavour becos of the added orange peel & cilantro. 绵滑的白粥配上有嚼劲可口和充满镬气的砂煲猪肝，真是超赞！#kpfyummy#kpffood#comfortfood#sgfood#muikee
Smooth & silky HK style congee with parrot fish belly at Mui Kee. Dip the crunchy yet slightly chewy fried dough to soak up the flavorful congee. A comfort meal that is simply heavenly! Dabao-ed kampong chicken goodness from Chicken House 💛 .
Known for its characteristic yellow skin, the kampong chickens at Chicken House 🐔 have always been a favourite of mine since young! Love the succulent juicy flesh and the supple gelatinous skin of these chickens which boast a thin layer of translucent collagen-rich jelly underneath it! 🤤 .
Really shiok when eaten with their spicy and tangy homemade garlic chilli sauce! 😍
Close up on the salted peanut butter milk chocolate chunks used for decorations (I did not make this). Picked this bar up from Jakarta because it just sounded interesting hahaha. I simply can’t resist chocolate 🤤
