2 days until spring so check the last photo for the natural manicure I’ll be rocking for most days from now on!! 💅🏽🤣 Started the early seeds (various onion-y things and leeks) at work last week with a hand-mixed seed-starter medium. I used roughly equal parts of coconut coir, vermiculite (basically puffed rock hehe) and a mycoactive potting mix (compost is ideal but our outdoor compost is frozen and it’s hard to find at stores at this time of year, plus these seeds are lighter on the nutrient needs anyways). Coco coir was a little hard to find but it has amazing water retention properties that are perfect for keeping your seeds nice and moist, and it is a renewable eco-friendly alternative to peat moss (which is being overharvested, destroying wetland ecosystems 😭). This coco coir was under the name “Beyond Peat” at Quincaillerie Hogg in Westmount, only $10 for a block that expands to 3 cubic ft! “fibre de coco” might be a useful term if you’re searching for it in mtl. Happy seedling starting bbs!! 🌱
I’m so behind in the garden! I’ve been fighting a really bad case of bronchitis for a week now, with no relief in sight. They put me on antibiotics and steroids-which I never take, but was so desperate for relief-unfortunately they made me so sick for 3 days, I had to stop taking them. I’ve barely eaten and can’t sleep so my normal level of fatigue has tripled. But, work must be done... •
My amazing husband was kind enough to do all the hard work without much help from me. I did sit outside and cheer him on, so that totally counts as work, right?! 😂 •
Some of our beds got a makeover and I think they look beautiful!! I really have to take a lot of breaks and needed to be able to sit while I do some gardening, so we raised the beds 3” by adding the caps. Bonus: no weeds growing up through the holes! I was worried we’d loose some of the soil we just added-before the caps-we seem to do a lot of work harder, not smarter some days! But, it worked out just fine. Beds are filled with soil from Living Earth and will be topped with mulch soon.
I was praying everyday since I was 5. As much as it doesn't look like it, I pray every night.. even if it's only less than a minute, it's okay. I could say I've only missed a hand, less than my fingers. Yesterday, I missed one. Now, I have 6. Lolol. My prayer today is to make up for it, the subject, "support". My daily bread. You can do so much, work your ass off, and achieve everything! But without support, you're just, alone. Praise the Lord, Alleluia. #need#greed#seed#letsgoforward#support
