I’m a huge Johnny Cash fan. Huge. And this set... it’s breathtaking. I remember being absolutely devastated when he passed away in 2003. I almost had to call in sick for work because I was so upset. I called my dad, the man who got me into Johnny’s music, and broke the news to him and we cried together on the phone. This set came out a while later, it was a day one purchase for me. There are so many amazing songs on this five disc set, four discs of unreleased material from his American Recording sessions with Rick Rubin that brought him back into the spotlight for a whole new generation. If you are a fan of music, in general, this set is amazing. If you are a fan of those years of Johnny’s career this is a must have. Do yourself a favour and buy it. Want to hear Johnny sing Heart of Gold by Neil Young, backed by Flea, John Frusciante and Chad Smith? How about Bob Marley’s Redemption Song as an acoustic duet with Joe Strummer? There are so many gems and so much iconic music on this set
