I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about this incident. This happened in Washington, D.C. at the Indigenous People's March a few days ago. Nathan Philips is a Vietnam war vet and is also a Native American activist who leads an annual ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to honor Native American soldiers. The students in the video are from Covington CATHOLIC High school. I am a firm believer that racism is taught and that these students' parents are the ones to blame for their child's actions. I am all for protesting and counter protesting but not like this. I'm not sure on the specifics of the March and what went on but regardless, there is no need to mock someone who is protesting simply because of their race or culture. I am sure that most of these kids were only joining in because of their friends and to have, what they believed, a little fun. These videos have gone viral this weekend and I haven't seen anyone defending the students actions which indicates that most of us are on the same page when we say this was wrong. This also ties into my recent post on religion and why I don't believe in religion as these were catholic high schoolers being as judgmental and hateful as it gets. If you have any more details on what went on, feel free to share ! Comment what you think about this incident !
Highlight from Government House Calabar last week, was a special meeting with Governor Ben Ayade by the Christian Community under the umbrella of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) led by Archbishop Emeritus of Calabar Archdiocese, His Grace, Bishop Joseph Edra Ukpo.
The highpoint of the meeting was offer of prayers for the Governor and his Deputy as the launch into the fields to campaign for the 2019 polls. (Slide left)
To show the oneness in religious tolerance in Cross River, the Muslim ummah represented by the Imam of Calabar Central Mosque, Imam Kabir Owolayemo, joined the Christian faith in love, support and solidarity to wish the Governor success at the polls.
The video attached speaks of the magnitude of the event.
