Tonight’s post is a special one; an important piece to the family’s story which traces back to Chester County, SC.
The Blakeney Hotel (circa 1907)🇺🇸 - Pageland, South Carolina’s most historic downtown building. The hotel welcomed many visitors and had home cooking, two levels of rooms, and two verandas to sit on. The hotel was beautiful in the 1920s. The railroad ran nearby and the cotton platform was just behind the hotel. Later the famed Pageland Watermelon Market shared the use of the cotton platform in the summer. The Blakeney Hotel was a special place for travelers headed to Florence, Columbia, Greenville, Charlotte, and beyond.
