My own version and local adaptation of the famous Deadvlei Star Trails. Ever since I saw these eerie mangrove trees stripped of their foliage (victims of the devastating storm surge wreaked about by Typhoon Pablo in 2012), I knew I had my perfect coastal star trail foreground location. Art Wolfe's iconic star trails from the Deadvlei salt pan in Namibia has always been one of my landscape photography goals/inspirations. When I finally had the chance to visit these dead trees in Baganga, I practically spent an entire night figuring out how to execute my vision. It was a challenge to do as the tide and intermittent cloud cover kept changing our circumstance. Nonetheless, through ardent prayers and staying up all night inspite of the dizzying fatigue, I finally got me this late opportunity. I caught the trees against an empty night sky, with a little bit of the tide reflecting things, just as day was breaking and the waters retreated further back to sea. ⁣

I was breathless the moment I put the finishing touches on this image. It was a culmination of years of dreaming and wishing. I understood now how everything is given to us in the proper time - when we are ready and we have all we need. Indeed, "in God's perfect timing." Had I gone there years earlier, I wouldn't yet have the skills nor even the vision to pull this off. I may not have the very capable gear necessary to create this image. I may not have the experience nor the fortitude to push through after the very unpromising conditions earlier that night. I was given the opportunity now, when I was fully ready to think about and execute exactly what I had been hoping for. ⁣
