  • I will say immediately that I absolutely adored The Overdue Life of Amy Byler. Not only is Amy relatable to every woman who does nothing for herself and everything for everyone else, the “momspringa” made me LAUGH. OUT. LOUD. Coming from Ohio and living in PA, I am no stranger to the Amish Rumspringa tradition. So reading the mom version word the very first time made me choke on my tea. I thought, this is genius.
.
Then there were so many areas I needed to highlight. @kelly.harms nails womanhood, and motherhood, above all else. There’s one passage (no spoiler, don’t worry) where she writes, “But it’s hard – looking ahead, seeing their mistakes coming, and then, unless they are in mortal danger, holding their hands as they make them anyway” in regards to letting your children grow up. Is that a good line or what? That was a beeline straight for my mom heart I tell ya. Harms writes the kids well with their personalities, especially the daughter Cori. She is smart with gumption. If she were real, she’d be a daughter to be proud of and reminded me of my own in a few years. And did I mention Amy is a librarian and booknerd?? I would like to be her friend, please.
.
Amy Byler’s life is long overdue and she deserves this time for herself. Laugh out loud funny, heart warmingly charming, with a sassy teenager to boot, The Overdue Life of Amy Byler is a fantastic read. Highly recommend.

I received an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are mine. I will say immediately that I absolutely adored The Overdue Life of Amy Byler. • I’m so honoured that @melissadarabian sent me a copy of her new book before it’s even out! When she first reached out to me 7 years ago, before my win was public knowledge, I was so touched. It was a comfort to me to have a big sister in the faith and in the food network family to guide my steps; that guidance has expanded to practically every part of my life. She has so much wisdom to share. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Love you Mellie and I can’t wait to see how God uses your latest endeavor to bless people!! 🧡

  • 💛 NEW RELEASE 💛

Only The Beginning by @ellethorpebooks is out in the world and this book is everything you crave if you are a lover of second chance and single dad romance books! I am telling you now go and read it!! If you haven't read Elle's book before you are missing out her debut series is sensational and her characters are diverse and so lovable! Book 1 Only The Positive if #free for only a few more days.
Goodreads Review 👉 http://bit.ly/2L3EyLr

Blurb:

I’m the darling of Australian TV. A good-girl actress with a spotless record. Or at least, that’s what I let the public believe. But what I do behind closed doors would shock them all. I’m a far cry from the girl next door I play on their screens each night.
Riley Clarke knows that better than anyone.

I loved him once, but for the past ten years, all we’ve done is f**k and fight. Some might say we’re friends with benefits, but the truth is, we aren’t even friends. All we are is explosive chemistry and screw-you-senseless sex. He makes me hot. He makes me feel. He makes me reckless.
When scandal rocks my carefully constructed world and my secrets are exposed, it’s Riley’s arms that close around me, protecting me from the storm.
But storms create floods, and a flood can drown you. You and the people you love.

»Maybe you’re gonna get superpowers from his microbes. She was a normal girl until she kissed a billionaire and became ... MICROBIANCA, Queen of the Microbes.« - John Green [Turtels all the way down]
-
Schönen Abend ihr Lieben 🥰
Heute habe ich dieses Schmuckstück beendet und will euch unbedingt davon erzählen!!
Hier mal der Originalklappentext:
Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.
Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

  • Book Club Sunday’s #30secondbookreview of The Witch Elm by Tana French:
•
Andrea: ✷✷✷✷ I still don’t really know how I feel about this book, other than I love Tana French’s writing. This twisty story definitely affected me and I kept thinking about it long after I finished it. I need everyone to read it immediately and tell me what they think!
•
Emily: ✷✷✷ I liked the things about this book that I like about all of Tana French’s books - the twisty plot, the well-developed characters, the deeply-rooted (a little tree pun there) sense of place - but the story and characters fell a little flat for me. It kept me guessing until the end, I just sort of lost interest in finding out what happened to everyone about halfway through. That said, fans of Tana French can definitely find things to love about this book.
•
Dee: ✷✷✷ A month after finishing this book and I still don’t know how to really describe my feelings. For starters, I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as the Dublin Murder Squad books. I had a really hard time caring about anyone, especially Toby, and I found the dialogue tedious and repetitive (NEVER how I feel about her other books!). On a positive note, there were so many left turns that it kept me interested and I never guessed how it would end!
•
Molly: ✷✷✷ This book had so many twists and turns I could hardly keep up. I was second guessing every character and was convinced the narrator was going to be in a coma and the whole thing had been a dream. It felt like no theory was too far fetched. I wished I had found any of the characters more likeable or relatable. There were so many questions being tied up at the end that I forgot they were even asked at the beginning.
