Psychotria elata is a tropical plant native to rain forests in Central and South America. The shiny red outer lips of the flower part to reveal delicate and wonderfully fragrant flowers which are pollinated by hummingbirds, butterflies and other insects. The flowers are followed by small blue fruits which are eaten by birds who disseminate the seeds. The bark and leaves are traditionally used for treating skin rashes, ear aches, skin rashes, arthritis, infertility and impotency.
Psychotria elata would like to remind us today to tune into the erotic dimensions of our ALIVENESS to celebrate the arrival of spring.
PSYCHOTROPIA ELATA MEDITATION. Go outside and have a seat. Close your eyes. Feel the air moving across your lips. Feel each sensitive wrinkle and crease of skin on your lips kissing the air. Your lips are ALWAYS kissing the air. After a few moments, let your lips part gently. Feel the emergence of delicate star shaped flowers from between your lips. These flowers are inviting bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies towards you to share in your sweetness. Together, you and the air, the flowers and the pollinators are celebrating life. Allow your starry flowers to morph into beautiful fruits that call to the birds, feed the birds, who drop your seeds into the ripe earth when they defecate. Feel the air entering your lips and nose. Feel the perfect systems and cycles of Earth. Feel your part in them. Let the air move across your lips as you close them again. You are always kissing the wind. You are a treasure.
This extraordinary plant has become endangered due to rampant deforestation. What small daily action can you take to stop this? What choices can you make to preserve the air and the insects that you kiss each day?
Depression can suck the life and vibrancy from someone's viens, making them want to isolate themselves either because they lack the energy to engage. Their minds will tell them that they aren't love; they are unloveable; they are a burden... the problem is they actually begin to believe it. Feelings of embarrassment to reach out will be fueled by anxiety preventing a person to confide in a loved one or ask for professional for help.
I understand and I know how difficult it can be.
For the person for is feeling depressed:
Despite all these negative feelings holding you back, I want you to please know you can feel better again, but it requires you to first acknowledge there is a problem, and second to ask for help, to confinde in someone.
For everyone else:
Know the signs and symptoms of depression:
Negative self-talk or expressions of hopelessness, or helplessness
Loss of interest in favorite activities
Decreased appetite and weight less
OR increased appetite with Increased weight (usually because of binge eating junk food... which can be a huge clue if the people usually eats really healthy)
Decreased emotional expressiveness
Staying in all the time
Spending more time in bed or being sedentary
Poor hygienic practices
Suicidal thoughts or plan (encourage them to seek help but if there is immediate risk or danger- call 911)
If you recognize any of these in a loved one or friend, simply ask them "are you okay?", let them know you are there for them, encourage them to talk about it, relate with them, encourage them to see help and that it is perfectly okay to ask for help, let them know they can feel good again.

Spring begins today with the equinox and a full moon! Let’s gather and celebrate a great flowering as well as Persian New Year, Nowruz (beginning tomorrow). Spring festivals mark the blossoming of a new year’s life, with falling petals foretelling the fruits and harvest of the fall.
Bring a flower to offer and to sit with if you can, as it is the great flowering within as well as in the world we celebrate this night. The sun has reached the equator in its journey north, a time of balancing what’s present, past and yet to come.

Spring is finally here! Come and celebrate with a practice that is rewarding, calming, and invigorating for the mind and body. Spring is a symbol of rebirth and new beginnings. Along with rebirth, the Spring Equinox is associated with one of the most well-known yoga sequence, the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar). As we move from the shadows of winter into the spring sunlight, sun salutations are a wonderful way to welcome this new season as well as a way to express gratitude to the sun.
In this class, you will be participating in 108 Sun Salutations utilizing a variety of variations, modifications, and yoga sequences. The number 108 holds great significance in yogic tradition and 108 Sun Salutations are typically performed upon the change of seasons.
The spring equinox presents us with a chance to create ourselves and our lives anew; to flow into the new season with a fresh new outlook and perspective on who we're being and what we're up to in our lives. Through this physical practice of 108 Sun Salutations, we have the opportunity to set these renewed intentions into motion- 108 times!
This class is intended to revitalize the body and refresh the mind. In addition to a powerful physical practice, you will leave feeling joyful, content, and thankful.
