Thanks to @mikestardpt & @whitneyru for breaking down blood flow restriction training and the benefits that come with it. I decided to give it a go, and holy cow what a difference. ⁣#goalfamily

Squats I used 40% of my 1RM, followed by glute bridge with single leg slide outs. My legs felt like they were going to pop 😅⁣

What occurs with blood flow restriction training (BFR):⁣
🔴limited oxygen supply to muscles (hypoxia)⁣
🔴due to hypoxia there is an increase recruitment of type II muscle fibers⁣
🔴these factors lead to an increased inflammatory and endocrine response as well as cellular swelling ⁣
⁣
Blood flow restriction benefits: ⁣
✅muscle protein breakdown is significantly decreased ⁣
✅a large increase in muscle protein synthesis occurs⁣
✅which promotes muscle growth!⁣
