  • โ€œTAO: It's what you are reading right now. Even when you're not reading it. Believe in it or not the Tao always is.โ€ -Lao Tzu ๐Ÿค”So, if you are naming your restaurant/night club after a concept of sorts, youโ€™ll have a lot to live up to. Recently had the privilege of celebrating the holidays with an amazing group of people at @taochicago . First let me preface this by acknowledging all of us who have been to this space back in the day when it was the Excalibur. Or even waayyy back in the day when it was the Limelight before the Excalibur. The exterior building is a landmark of sorts on the NW corner of Dearborn & Ontario. Stepping inside, I was completely impressed by the transformation! The space is simply stunning, with wonderful art and awesome attention to details. Tall ceilings, grand stair case, and cozy dining nooks. The Modern Asian inspired space contributes to an upscale feel that Excalibur and Limelight never was. Needless to say, I loved the space. However, it was the food that really got my attention. I honestly did not expect the food to be as delicious and as thoughtful as it turned out to be! We had an amazing curated multi course meal and these were my top three dishes of the night: The pork potstickers were plump, juicy and drizzled with a delicious savory and spicy sauce. The Sea Bass Satay was like nothing Iโ€™ve ever had before. And the Lobster fried rice was addictive with its whole chunks of lobster meat. So, yes, this is a shiny pretty space (complete with excellent people watching!) but put that aside and head over to Tao for their Food. Iโ€™m already planning the next outing here! โ€œTAO: It's what you are reading right now. Even when you're not reading it.
