Guns, Freedom & the Control of man (it's gonna be a long one)
After I got done ranting last night in my NRA ballot post (make sure to read it) about gun rights, self defense, defending against tyranny, never being a slave to any political system or government and freedom, I was feeling in a freedom and rebellious mood and knocked the movie Free State of Jones off my long awaited list. I have been wanting to watch this movie for a long time. All I have to say is, damn was it good! It's based off actual events which is really cool too.
Although it is just a movie I think there are a lot of good talking points about that era that need to be discussed this day in age that even Hollywood couldn't suppress. The ones I am going to focus on are guns, freedom and the control of man.
I think this movie does a fantastic job illustrating the importance of guns for self-protection, protecting your property and preserving your own freedom. It doesn't matter if it's a bad guy looking to victimize you, or the government coming to collect/steal what is not rightfully theirs as seen in slides 1,2,3,6 &7. The guns were the great equalizer which prevented the theft and overburden of the government on the citizens which could have led to lack of income and starvation due to stolen supplies and goods.
The guns were also what was prohibited from black men because without guns, they were powerless and couldn't fight back against their oppressors. This can be seen in nearly every major region of the world where slavery still exists both for labor and sex or where government's exude their power over the people and leave them powerless and no discourse against government control. Slides 4 & 5 show what happens when the powerless are given the tools to fight back against oppression. Freedom! (Cont in comments🔽🔽)
Friends, brothers and sisters!
If you are a Bernie supporter, please understand the importance of supporting Tulsi and making sure she gets on the debate stage. The large amount of Democrat candidates running right now is a planned attempt to take enough votes away from Bernie in hopes that one of their establishment candidates might edge out in a victory. There is only one solution - we need to fight fire with fire. We need to get @tulsigabbard on stage, a progressive young woman of color with a rich history in congress and in the armed services. She will not only bring the quality progressive issues on stage that our nation needs to discuss (more progressive than Bernie in my own opinion), but she will also give us progressives a better fighting chances at electing Bernie. You can help guarantee that Tulsi gets on stage by donating to her campaign, even just $1counts - the rules of the Democrat debates demand that we have 65,000 individual contributions, and we are almost there! Have you already donated? Then share this post and link with your family, friends and followers! Let's continue to transform our country - getting Tulsi on the debate stage needs to be our number one priority! Link in my bio, let's do this!!!
I present to you BackWordz, an Anarcho-capitalist punk band with a fiery message and the razor-sharp attitude to back it up. Anarchism is certainly not a new lyrical theme to punk, but the genre has traditionally courted the more socialistic schools of thought over the years. Anarcho-capitalism, possibly the most individualistic form of political philosophy, is historically the black sheep of the already fringe anarchist family, but Backwordz know fully well that they stand against all of society when they spit forth their rebellious views, messages delivered through Eric July’s thoughtful prose and downright ferocious screams, as well as Alex James’ excellent melodic singing and backup vocals from several guest singers. Combined with diverse instrumentation ranging from intense distorted riffs to slick or ominous beats, each song provides the proper atmosphere for the message to shine through. These devoted anarchists crafted this material with love and passion, and it shows, as it represents a musical achievement for a brand of anarchism which, in light of these politically caustic times, has developed an unusual degree of traction.
When politicians throw natural rights and constitutional protections to the wind, as they have done in New Zealand to the sensational appraisal of many Americans, public servants transform into civil tyrants who unabashedly use the threat of governmental force to compel all citizens to submit to their personal will, which we “consented” to through voting.
Whatever your convictions are for choosing not to own a firearm, every citizen is safer when other people have the freedom to protect themselves, who in a worst case scenario (which I genuinely hope never happens to anyone), could be your only form of protection. Constitutionally, officers have no obligation to run into gunfire to save you. Even though I personally believe and hope many, if not most, would, but the fact remains that there is no guarantee that the first responder on scene will actually risk their own life to save yours. There is also no guarantee that an officer will arrive on scene in an expedient time frame; the average police response time is 18 minutes!
Loss of Official Party Status: We're not dead!
We have done this before. The petition isn't something simple like a change/org petition. It is a process under state law that only has to be done when we don't re-qualify automatically by getting 1% of the vote. The requirements for signatures are very stringent, which is why there is such a low validation rate. (about half of the signatures we collect will be thrown out on a technicality.) We are in the planning stages of this process with quite a bit of work being done behind the scenes to get ready for the start of petitioning. We have to get the petition form verified by the Board of Elections, we'll have a training video, we'll hold volunteer events to coordinate and manage locations, we'll raise funds for paid petitioners, we'll run online self-validation petitions, we are planning a joint event effort with the Green Party, and we will train the core group who will manage the process so that we avoid duplicate submissions, guard against fraudulent submissions, and many other details that are necessary to make the petition process successful.
However, we still have a pending federal lawsuit that may change one or more aspects of this process, including a challenge to the way signatures are validated. We don't want to start the petition process prior to the resolution of that lawsuit, or at least not yet. We may be able to begin petitioning in May, but that is probably optimistic.
Stay tuned to this page, party emails if you are on the distribution list, and the website. We'll announce when the petitioning starts and what you can do to sign the petition, and as important, help others to sign the petition.
We will get this done, as we have in the past. The state's barriers to entry and anti-democratic exclusionary laws distract us and make us waste time and resources that the legacy parties do not have to undertake, but we overcome them. We do so, because we place the highest priority on making sure that libertarians and the general public have the option to vote their principles at the ballot box. #libertarian#libertarianparty#maryland#politics#marylandpolitics#vote#freedom#volunteer
