I took an epsom salt bath earlier this week, which severely dehydrated me in a short period of time and I have been suffering a severe breakout on my forehead since then.
I had this photo shoot planned with @seachell.e already, and I knew I was lucky to get a chance to shoot with her, and I was so excited about it. So, I showed up regardless of my insecurities right now about my skin.
I decided it was a chance to strengthen my confidence, continue to release my perfectionism, and be an example to not hide yourself when you’re struggling.
I reminded a new friend who is struggling with painful cystic acne to not hide herself away, because a time like this is a beautiful time to share her soul.
So here I am. Walking my talk, being brave, and loving myself despite everything. Because I was created to thrive and love, and nothing else really matters.
I was reminded at a church service in Chicago today there is so much greater than me, so much important work to do, so much to be grateful for and in awe of.
It’s easy to get swept up in my day, and to start becoming overly self-centered, thinking my problems are big.
Yoga, church, meditation, reading, writing, walking outside, volunteering... All help to keep me humble, grounded, and reconnect me to what is larger than me. Suddenly, nothing is really so bad after all.
Around 10-ish years ago @taurenwells came to my little church to perform with his group at the time. There were probably 30 of us. Fast forward to last week and I had the pleasure of seeing him with Chris Tomlin in a crowd of 8000+ who sang along with every word. What a moment. ♥️🙌🏼 • • •

We started Hope Breathes to talk about the soul care of Breathing In and the activism of Breathing Out. I believe that small actions of community and friendship can ripple out and have unknown impacts. .
Daily practices are bricks that form a path we to walk out values. We walk to nursery - because it's good for us and the world and we meet people. We think about how we buy our food - shiny glass milk bottles, and plastic-free vegetables delivered to our house. We practice hospitality - inviting others in to our home. .
I've realised recently that these bricks can build a wall around me instead of a path under my feet. I let the habits become solid definitions of Debbie. My pride likes the image they present, and I pay more attention to that appearance than my soft heart underneath.
When I'm running late and I drive to nursery. When we realise that paying for those lovely milk bottles is not financially sustainable. When there's a shift and we can't offer our spare room. I push back because I'm enamoured with that image of myself. I feel guilty and question myself.
In the midst of this realisation I read these words from @brenebrown - . "Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are."
These are all good choices to make, but they need to be underpinned by this foundational practice of Grace: knowing that I am enough and loved just as I am, without that brick fort around me. This is holy work. The other things that I build into my life can be helpful, but I can't let them define me. So my challenge is to daily find my identity in who I am:
God’s not done with YOU.
No mistake can out run the Love and Mercy God has for you. Repent from your selfish way of living then go out and change the world...Don’t listen to respond but listen to hear the heart of the other..let them realize they are seen...many people feel invisible and insignificant..also grab some coffee for the journey aha..(Segway to second pic)
As I’ve previously mentioned before, faithfulness has been the assigned word for this year. I understood, on some aspect, what the word meant in biblical terms. However, I didn’t realize what it truly meant to rest in it. God has never failed to be faithful. So in the past few days, the words “faithfulness isn’t just seen in the rainbows but also in the rain” have been a reoccurring statement. In other words, God’s hand is always moving in our life—-even when we feel like it isn’t. At the end of the day, our job isn’t to move based on human vision or emotion but on His guiding voice. For great is HIS faithfulness, in all seasons of life.
It's a new thing hubby and I are trying this year. So far, so good.
Intentionality is super imperative within marriage. This has helped us with our intentionality. •Every three weeks we have a date. •Every three months we have a weekend away. •Every three years we have a week away.
Whatever you need to do to be intentional within your marriage do it. It's worth fighting for. Your spouse is worth fighting for. You are with fighting for.
Let's be intentional people.
Within our marriages and within our other relationships.
Love God and love neighbor.
It is a pretty lovely calling.
Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
Proverbs 5:18 ESV
