  • Thanks to @davidriddle for pointing out this gem! A great plane to analyze, with an interesting back story.
.
It’s a Bombardier CRJ 200 regional airliner with a retrofitted executive interior. This exact aircraft was manufactured in 2003 and was previously used in regional commercial flights. Once it had too many hours to continue to be cost effective in commercial due to increasing maintenance demands (~15k hours), it was sold to a charter company who put in the “Execliner Shuttle” interior conversion — double club seating all the way through the cabin.
.
It’s the classic way a charter broker gets celebrities into an aged aircraft. To an untrained eye it is indistinguishable from a Gulfstream or a Global Express... but it’s really on its last legs.
.
Costs about $1-2m to purchase and another $1m for the remodel. Charter costs are not readily available online, but probably in the $6,000/hr range.
.
The Challenger 850 and the CRJ 200 are the same aircraft: one comes with the executive interior from the factory for business/private aviation and one is configured for commercial use. The CRJ 200 regional jet would hold about 50 commercial pax. Corporations like Intel would get the business version and operate it like a shuttle. Everyone had equal seating (no couch or individual seats) and the aircraft would hop back and forth between hubs, such as between LA to San Jose. It’s also a common way for bands to go on North American tours, where they need to move a lot of people a short distance. The planes are slow and not designed to fly cross country.
.
As this short-hop, egalitarian flying became popular, charter companies started bringing them into their fleets. They soon realized they could purchase an old and worn regional commercial jet and put 💄 on the 🐷 to make it appear like the business version. Much less costly and they can charge the same hourly rate. .
This is not to say it’s unsafe. It’s a good way to charter for 20 people. Just not as fancy as it appears.
.
Not that Kaavia seems to care.

  • Today, we highlight this amazing new Mama @gabunion!

Aside from her many accomplishments in her career, this woman you see here is not just “Gabby Union” the actress. She is a strong, resilient woman who has been transparent enough to expose her weaknesses to the world in hopes to strengthen other women.

Infertility affects the African-American community in larger percentages compared to other races and many women are struggling with this pain silently. Ms. Gabrielle represents that light at the end of the tunnel. Amidst the many “no’s” and “I’m sorry’s,” she persisted, held on to her faith, and did not give up!

People may be telling to to give up trying, give up on that dream, the goal and purpose you thirst for; in fact, the land in which you’ve planted your seed(s) may seem dry and unpromising right now; but don’t give up!

When the storms come, rather than cry, be thankful, change your mindset. That storm has been sent to feed the ground in which you’ve planted your seeds! That harvest will come in due time, it’s a process that may not feel great right now but suffering is temporary!

  • A man that a lot of us look up to will play his final all-star game. 😢
Good luck tonight @dwyanewade! There are not enough words to describe how much happiness you have brought to my life getting to watch you ball day in and day out! You and the rest of the fam inspire me to be a better person because y’all are just great role models & such humble people! Getting to watch and support your sons game now is just the icing on the cake for me and it’s awesome to think he could be playing in the NBA following in your footsteps just a few years from now! 🔥
-
Things I’m hoping to see tonight are:
Dwyane Wade goes for 16 points (One point for each NBA season he has played.)
He wins All-Star MVP!
Him and Lebrongive us a few memorable dunks like they did as teammates! 👀 A man that a lot of us look up to will play his final all-star game. 😢 Good luck tonight @dwyanewade!
