Even if it makes others feel uncomfortable, I will love who I was. I will love who I am. I will love who i am becoming. For Allah Guides who Allah wills. I know many have unfollowed me because of my decision to no longer wear hijab full time. And honestly its great that they have because my energy is not placed in their approval. My energy is in Faith through my own understanding and growth. I respect and love all those who share la ilaha illa allah in their hearts regardless of their shortcomings (not that i consider not wearing a headscarf or thobe as quantitative as a shortcoming in islam). I respect the undeniable truth that All humans have to find their path and that it's not always a sturdy trek. So im not gonna pretend like it is. But no hard feelings, I've found peace in my realities. I fare thee well to those who can't see past the surface. And welcome all those who choose to live with love and tolerance. Peace be upon you... To be continued...
Sometimes a mystery
Sometimes I'm free
Depending on my mood or attitude
Sometimes I wanna roll or stay at home
Guess I'm factual and fiction
And I like that
I don't really give a fuck if I was just the only one
Who likes that
Janelle Monáe is an American singer, songwriter, actress, producer, advocate and activist. She is credited with receiving eight Grammy Award nominations, an MTV Video Music Award, the ASCAP Vanguard Award, Billboard Women in Music Rising Star Award, and the 2018 Trailblazer of the year Award. Monáe is unafraid to be herself and is a shining example of a complete artist.
In honor of the #grammys, here’s a shot I took of #janellemonae during her set at #vodoofest 2018 🔮 She killed it on the Altar Stage in October and at Grammy’s last night.
