I try to keep motivation visible for my students but I had to change my board this week to encourage myself through. I had 2 out 5 days of an uninterrupted lunch and I work in academia. It’s either work through lunch or take it home. There’s no time to play cards here Senator. My clinical day was a 12 hour shift and my lunch break was spent with students looking over clinical judgement plans while they ate. I NEVER had a bathroom break because I was too busy to drink because I was busy running between two nursing units trying to keep students on task and from making mistakes. So basically as Instructor It’s like I have 10-12 patients a day once a week. I came home with swollen ankles and feet. I literally had to sit in my car an hour just to eat, take multiple deep breaths, and gather myself before I drove 15 minutes to get home. Somebody tell the Senator, who is clearly out of touch, that we are offended. We are really saving lives out here and/or teaching students how not to kill somebody‼️Nursing is hard..hang in there colleagues..Don’t forget your why. Keep your head up and smile anyway.
"Sgt. 1st Class Elizabeth Calderon, born and raised out of California. Joined the U.S. Army to “see the world.” I’ve seen the world alright, but let me tell you I’ve also seen the evolution of minds. I’ve seen myself grow into the woman I am now. I use to be a shy, insecure and timid girl. You won’t see that person in me anymore. I’ve discovered that I’m here to elevate and empower those around me. I embodied “my voice” when I became a Drill Sergeant. I came across people of all different backgrounds but all had a common goal. SELF PURPOSE.
It was my job to break them down and assist in re-building them physically, mentally and stronger. Watching their journey gave me life. It excited me to watch my Soldiers overcome their fears, accomplish their goals and to come together as a team. We all realized we needed each other. EVERYONE brings something unique to the table. I’m currently assigned at @usapfs as a Master Fitness Trainer Instructor. Joining the Army was the right choice for me not because it was a “last resort” but because I was in search of something meaningful. I proudly serve my country and in turn the Army has molded me into a woman of courage, respect and honor." #inourboots#armylife#soldier#drillsergeant#masterfitnesstrainer#instructor#womenwhoserve#realstories#purpose#goals#fitness
