  • Did you miss our #booksellershelfie posts? We sure did so we're bringing them back.

This one is from childrens book specialist, Sarah, who has says, "I love stories that blend genres and twist tropes so organizing by category never quite worked. When I moved last year, I threw out the decision-making and focused on a visual aesthetic instead. I honestly thought I’d redo it after a couple weeks but I have never once looked back. Of course, I did catalogue all my books in a spreadsheet and created a shelving code so I can always find what I’m looking for." She also offered us this bonus note about the figures on her top shelf, "I made both the crow and the fox. The crow was inspired by THE GIRL WHO DRANK THE MOON by @insufferable_blabbermouth and the fox represents Vikram from A CROWN OF WISHES by @roshanichokshi." 😱😍 #rainbowshelf #sopretty #allthebooks #organized #bookseller #indiebookstore #changinghands Did you miss our #booksellershelfie posts? For #whatwerereadingwednesday, Molly highly recommends TO KEEP THE SUN ALIVE by Rabeah Ghaffari, a cinematic novel about an Iranian family and their fruit orchard, caught up in the Revolution of 1979—she says, “I was completely swept away by this family epic set on the eve of the Iranian Revolution in an Edenic orchard in the small town of Naishapur. Though the family has its fair share of strife—opium addictions, favored sons, discarded daughters, and chasmic disagreements over how best to live in the world—several remark throughout on their desire for the orchard to remain unchanged, seeing it as a refuge from the increasing chaos and anxiety permeating Iran in 1979. Ghaffari writes with such grace, as I read, I couldn’t help but think of a cooling wind moving from family member to family member, observing and caring for each in equal measure in all his/her complex glory. TO KEEP THE SUN ALIVE is a warm, heartful, deeply compassionate novel about people, the choices they make (or are made for them), and the stories that spring from the collision of the two." @catapult

  • @vikredistillery taps into the bold, clean waters of Lake Superior to craft their spirits. For Emily and Joel Vikre, founders of the Duluth based distillery, this magnificent body of water is more than a source for their spirits. Lake Superior is their muse, and the reason they were called to return to the Northwoods and put down roots almost 10 years ago.
Beyond the lake, Vikre Distillery is inspired by the local landscape and utilizes foraged botanicals from the Northwoods, including cedar, spruce and juniper in its spirits.
