  • Long weekend meant more time to make...food! Oatmeal raisin cookies because @fatpanda303 had some leftover raisins from making raisin bread. Tim made 4 loaves of bread today including this Jalapeno Cheddar loaf which we then made grilled cranberry turkey sandwiches with (served with a side of braised cabbage, not shown). Leftover Turkey courtesy of a spontaneous Turkey purchase cooked in the Instant Pot yesterday then used the bones and skin to make broth that will be the base of our noodle soup for dinner tomorrow! #ilovefood #food #foodislife #homecooking #homecook #foodforthesoul Long weekend meant more time to make...food!   • Dined at 3-Michelin Star @alinea tonight for the first time. @hynessiu brought me to celebrate our 3-year anniversary and the meal was outstanding. Loved the creativity with each dish and the service was fantastic. Thank you @thealineagroup for an incredible and memorable meal!   • Ever since I watched @davidchang's @uglydelicious & then saw them again on @chefstablenetflix, I've wanted to try Chef Cristina Martinez's barbacoa @ South Philly Barbacoa. Her & Ben Miller's (her husband/co-owner) story is so important today & the work they do for immigrant and restaurant communities is invaluable. Having taught in a school with 80-90% immigrants, many from Central America, their story really touched me. Their story made me think of my students and their families. The line was lonnngggg but Lady Luck was on my side (and maybe a misunderstanding on my part). I walked in not realizing I had to order & pay outside. Mr. Miller & Chef Cristina were so kind to let me just go ahead and pay inside. Sorry to those I jumped ahead of! And I got a chance to thank Mr. Miller, the guy chopping up the barbacoa in the pic, for how he and Chef bravely told their story, for the work they do, the amazing tacos and congratulate them for Chef Cristina's nomination for 2019 James Beard Award for Best Chef, Mid-Atlantic. They were so busy I didn't get to talk to Chef Christina or take a selfie with them but I will be back!  And maybe even catch the jazz band that does a workshop there. Thanks Chef Cristina for the love in your food and Mr. Miller for letting me chat you up while you were so busy!!

[Ingredients]
Squid - 1 LB.
Carrot -1
Garlic - 4 cloves 
Jalapeno - I like super spicy so you can skip this if you want.
Onion - half
Green onion - 5
.
[Seasoning paste]
Gochujang - 1 tablespoon 
Gochugalu/Chili powder - 4 tablespoons 
Sugar - 1+½ tablespoons 
Soy sauce - 4 tablespoons 
Cooking wine - 1 tablespoon
Black pepper - a little bit
.
Olive oil - 2 tablespoons 
Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons 
Sesame seeds - a little bit
.
[Directions]
1. Chop the vegetables and squids nicely!
2. Combine Gochujang, Chili powder, Sugar, Soy sauce, Cooking wine and Black pepper in a bowl and mix well.
3. Heat up a pan over medium high heat.
Add Olive oil and stir fry Squids, vegetables with seasoning paste.
4. Add Sesame oil and seeds in the last minute.
