Happy Thursday everyone!
Another back attack.
Today's lesson: Unilateral exercises; or exercises performed with single leg or single arm.
unilateral training offers athletes a unique training stimulus to maximize performance, increase injury resilience, and even enhance bilateral outputs.
Over time, poor movement mechanics and compensation patterning can lead to inefficient bar paths, overuse injury, and stalled progress. By addressing certain neuromuscluar (movement patterning) and muscular (strength, hypertrophy, explosiveness) with unilateral training exercises, athletes can better develop and maintain muscle mass, connective tissues strength, and joint integrity.
Today I'm using this to correct an imbalance in my lower left latissimus dorsi, I recently noticed slightly less development on my left side, and a slightly harder time reaching peak contraction. The goal is to correct and even out the asymmetry.
Featuring special guest @beardedleviathan --imagine your ideals then make them real.
It's that time of week again, leg day.
Just a little post work selfie video to show the progress.
Today's work consisted of medium weight (for me 225) and alot of volume. My set scheme was a superset of 6 sets squat to walking lunge. All sets minimum 20 reps. Rest no more than 2 mins between sets. --It's not who you are, it's who you become.
On the path to greatness the only thing that matters is that you consistently dedicate yourself to improving.
You don't choose to become a legend, you fight for it.
I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this.... but before I began my fitness journey I thought that I was forever cursed with small glutes. My mom doesn’t have a butt, my sister doesn’t have a butt, NO ONE IN MY FAMILY IS BLESSED WITH A BIG OLE BOOTY! So I thought; that’s it, no booty for me. 😩
WRONG. After years of squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts, and lunges this is what I’ve got. I know that I don’t have show stopping glutes (yet 😉) but I am still proud of the bit that I do have. Genetics of course plays a big role in your physique but so does hard work! -
Swipe to see today vs. a few years ago 🥞👉🏻🍑 -
What are your favorite glute exercises I should try out??! Share below so I can mix things up on my next glute day!
Thrilled I finally get to share this. I had got this idea from my good friend @scottloganflex . Also I have loved wearing these kinds of bands since I was a kid (Pun intended).. In any line of work or industry it is SO IMPORTANT to market yourself and just put yourself out there and believe in and love what your doing. LIFE IS WAY TO SHORT, to live it with the FEAR of FAILURE. We have to live FEARLESSLY. When GOING AFTER our DREAMS. You must give it ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING you have. (#htgr) Hit The Ground Running. What that means is what ever your working for, what ever your striving for. You have to Hit The Ground Running. In order to be headed in the right direction towards your goal. That means being the hardest worker in the room. (24/7/365) 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Believe in YOURSELF. Believe in YOUR DREAMS. Fight for YOUR DREAMS & YOUR DREAMS WILL FIGHT FOR YOU... ( #htgr prototype bracelet. Wow......there are many days when I’m feeling flat and unhappy with my progress. It’s not until you take a side by side look at your past self next to your current that you actually see the results of your hard work, and it brings you back into check. Watching @operation_downsize_me insta story yesterday and it made me reflect that sometimes we are way too hard on ourselves and focus more on reaching our goals rather than the achievements we’ve already attained on the way. I can’t tell you how much my life has changed for the better in the last 10 months, it’s literally like I’ve been reborn and given a second chance to live again, and I’m embracing it wholeheartedly.
Have an incredible weekend folks and remember - make time to give yourselves a pat on the back, even for the small things that may seem insignificant at the time 🙏🏻
10 years of progression.
Imagine if everyone around you told you "you cant."
Imagine if everyone doubted you, and told you you'll never be enough.
Just give up you'll never make it...
Now imagine if you chose not to listen. Imagine you chose not to let their words define you.
Imagine you made a choice to put the work in. You made a choice to dedicate your life to the greatest version of yourself.
Imagine if you silenced all the haters when you made them eat their own words.
Imagine you proved them wrong.
