It’s a Bombardier CRJ 200 regional airliner with a retrofitted executive interior. This exact aircraft was manufactured in 2003 and was previously used in regional commercial flights. Once it had too many hours to continue to be cost effective in commercial due to increasing maintenance demands (~15k hours), it was sold to a charter company who put in the “Execliner Shuttle” interior conversion — double club seating all the way through the cabin.

It’s the classic way a charter broker gets celebrities into an aged aircraft. To an untrained eye it is indistinguishable from a Gulfstream or a Global Express... but it’s really on its last legs.

Costs about $1-2m to purchase and another $1m for the remodel. Charter costs are not readily available online, but probably in the $6,000/hr range.

The Challenger 850 and the CRJ 200 are the same aircraft: one comes with the executive interior from the factory for business/private aviation and one is configured for commercial use. The CRJ 200 regional jet would hold about 50 commercial pax. Corporations like Intel would get the business version and operate it like a shuttle. Everyone had equal seating (no couch or individual seats) and the aircraft would hop back and forth between hubs, such as between LA to San Jose. This is not to say it’s unsafe. It’s a good way to charter for 20 people. Just not as fancy as it appears.
