  • Posted @withrepost • @megan_rose_lane Isn’t it funny how we obsess over a part of our body, so much so that it takes over our life and dictates the path we choose. We take an image of - lets say for example – a toned, flat stomach and then we stare at our real, beautiful, living, breathing, unedited human bodies in the mirror and we hold this unattainable image up against ourselves. And then we point at ourselves and say ‘I am wrong’, ‘I am ugly’, ‘I am unworthy’, ‘I am digusting’, ‘I am vile’, ‘I am unloveable’

And then we make it our life’s work to achieve the unachievable, starving ourselves of food and joy and love and destroying our ability to focus on anything remotely worthwhile – like helping others and making a difference in the world or starting our own business or going after our REAL dreams.

Your goals in the gym probably shouldn’t be at the centre of your existence. We are totally and utterly distracted from the real reason we’re here. We are being pulled away from our true purpose because we have been fed a lie that happiness will magically appear to us once we are thin and toned and less bloated and look like the women and the men in the fitspo accounts and the travel blogs.

If I asked you to sit down with a pen and paper and write down all of the things you want to achieve during your short and precious time on this amazing planet, I highly doubt you’d write ‘Well I want to spend the next 50 years trying to look like her over there, whilst fearing my body and hating myself in to changing it - so that they will love me, and he will fancy me, and one day maybe, I’ll finally accept myself’

You’d write about embracing your God given talents, living from the highest part of yourself, feeling peaceful and fulfilled, serving others, contributing to the world, building a tribe of likeminded people, taking care of your health and wellbeing from a place of love and acceptance. How are you ever going to achieve any of those things while looking in the mirror and pointing this aggressive, hateful finger at yourself and repeating nasty, bullying words every single day.

WAKE UP MY LOVES!!! You are fucking amazing.
