“If they can do and say those things to their best players... what would they do to me? I didn’t want to find out”

I wrote my university dissertation on the ethnic diversity of football fans in England. Doing my research, I found that many Black & Ethnic minority fans didn’t feel safe in the stadium to support their team. One of my uncles was born in Jamaica and came to England in the ‘60s when he was 5/6. He is one of the most astute, knowledgeable and insightful minds I speak to on football topics... however the answer above was his reason as to why he has never been to a football stadium in his life. He’s now 61. This was many fans fears which to a large extent did subside, but recent events where young, experienced, elite players are being targeted, this part of not just the game but also society, is rearing it’s ugly head again. This is bigger then football, but we can all play our part

Let’s not alienate another generation.
