  • POST SHOW WEIGHT GAIN⤵️
.
I stepped off stage 8.5 weeks ago- now I’m 7lbs heavier during my “Improvement season”- but y’all, this is part of my sport!

It’s not maintainable to stay STAGE LEAN all year round & realistically if I did, I wouldn’t be able to develop & grow the parts of my body that I want to! #goals 💪🏻🍑
.
I can’t tell you the amount of horror stories I heard & been confided in about what happens BEFORE & AFTER competitors step off stage!

Being in a caloric deficit for 12 wks, counting every little thing that goes in your body, leaning out weekly.. that’s a part of prep! & everything is done in a CONTROLLED manner!! Post show should be done in the same respect to your body!

But that depends on your definition of “controlled” 👀

I’ve learned & witnessed the opposite of my definition of “controlled”! Being SO restrictive with food, sodium intake, water depletion, etc.. truthfully that sounds miserable & it’s proven to have such devastating repercussions on the competitor!

But it’s not your fault if you’ve fallen in those shoes! You trusted a professional to let you believe that it’s the only way to prep for a show. Or even if you’re not a competitor, you believe extreme restrictions are the only way to recomp your body!

Well they’re all wrong! Totally friggen wrong!

While I was on prep I ate chocolate, peanut butter.. I even drank BEER 3 weeks out! But guess what?! I still showed up with a package that took 1st place! 🏆

I’m not saying that to be arrogant. I’m saying that to prove a point! Restriction isn’t the way!

Regardless, prep puts your metabolism in a vulnerable position post show after restricting calories for weeks! You can’t just go back to your “normal” calories. You need a proper CONTROLLED reverse diet to guide your metabolism back to a place where it can thrive. So slowly adding in calories over time will allow your body to adjust in a healthy way! This will help you maintain the physique you worked SO hard for! A little weight gain is so normal!

LOVE yourself & your body for what it can do for you! Embrace your body & it will love you right back 🖤 love & accept yourself NOW in order to get where you want to be!! 🦋 POST SHOW WEIGHT GAIN⤵️ . .
If you are continuously putting off making a positive change to your health because you're waiting for an arbitrary set start point, you're already on the wrong path and setting yourself up for failure.
.
Your body uses calories the exact same way on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Your body stores those excess calories the exact same was on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Chocolate tastes exaclty the same on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Alcohol tastes exactly the same on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Pizza tastes exactly the same on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
But you know what else...
.
Your body responds to exercise the exact same way on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Your body responds to quality sleep the exact same way on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Your body responds to hydration the exact same way on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
Your body responds to nutrition - vitamins - minerals - the exact same way on Sunday as it does on Monday.
.
The "diet starts Monday" mentality is holding you back when you could be improving your health right now at this very moment (yes I am aware of the irony of it being Monday today).
.
If it was Tuesday today, do you think you're better off carrying on with bad habits for another 6 days waiting for Monday to come around again, or should you just get started NOW?
.
I made the mistake when I started exercising. I wanted to lose weight before I started going to the gym because I was scared.
.
And that's how I did it but if I look back, I know I would have made progress MUCH more quickly if I just dove in right away.
.
Don't wait until the next Monday to better yourself. Start now.
