I want to be in the mountains everyday photographing adventurous couples, like Katie & Chase, who are deeply in love with each other! Elopements, anniversaries, engagements, let’s hike together & have an adventure!⠀
Katie & Chase’s Blue Ridge Mountains adventurous engagement session is on the blog today! #jrpadventuresessions#jessicaryanphotographer
A bit intimidating from afar, but as you begin the ascent, it opens right up and welcomes you in like an old friend. Complete with a hidden pond up top and views that will make you want to hike it in any and all conditions. This was my 4th and favorite summit so far.
Welcome to one of my all time top *happy places* - Ten Sleep Canyon
The past few years, @torycorcoran and I have spent part of our summer climbing in the canyon. I'm by NO means anywhere near good enough to truly appreciate all of the routes and walls this place has to offer. But anyone can appreciate its beauty
It's one of those places that makes you feel small, but so alive. You're content sitting and looking at the same view day after day. You're just happy to be there, plain and simple
Praising to the tallest tree in Sequoia . #generalsherman Two Years I’ve been wanting to see this place in snow and I finally made it 🤗
As I follow different peoples posts about closures, perceptions and experiences I really didn’t know what to think about how the experience behind the scenes with the whole government shut down really is. During my stay so far, I learned that Sequoia truly closed down because of the public’s behavior and it needed to be cleaned up before it can reopen. It’s really sad to see that people can destroy areas that have been preserved and really don’t understand the concept that we need to keep them safe for generations to come and that there is a reason that they are called NATIONAL Parks. Somewhere along our history timeline someone chose these places and wanted to protect them.
This is not to say that it is ok to trash up every other area. If everyone just did their share what a better place we would have in this world.
I also have to thank the snow plowers that are taking care of the highway. These people are coming in unpaid and that’s hurtful but they are hopeful because they still need an income even if it “eventually happens” because of them we are still able to enter the park safer and hopefully will help us get out today after this snowstorm. It was nice to talk to employees up front and the employees at Wuksachi hotel were absolutely amazing. Never seen a park so empty but was truly an experience.
This Saturday--after thousands of miles of training and thousands of gallons of sweat--I finally get to toe the start line of one of the world's toughest 100-mile trail races: the HURT 100. All I can do now is trust that the countless hours I've spent on these beautiful Hawaii trails have prepared me enough to finish this beast of a race. #heregoesnothing#hurt100#wookierunsamerica 📸: @annakalbrecht
I’m so happy to finally be back in a remote community away from the big cities I’d been stealth camping/working in up til Xmas. Living remotely allows me to take better care of myself, focus on my personal projects without distraction, get outside in a complete wilderness everyday and ultimately reset. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely for me. #norway
In episode no. 27 of Backpacker Radio, the Cinnamon Connection catches up with Bill Manning, the Executive Director at the Colorado Trail foundation. We do a deep dive on all things Colorado Trail related, including the best time to hike the trail, the biggest mistakes aspiring thru-hikers make, and the inner workings for keeping such a beautiful trail afloat. Chaunce lets us in on a mega surprise, and we cover the most popular sleeping bags used on the AT last year. Put this in your ears. #backpackerradio

So sorry for the inactivity lately! Mahm has been studying hard for her Veterinary Acupuncture certification and so hikes and adventures have been limited...hopefully soon we’ll continue to explore, but until then here is a throwback to our Coyote Wall adventure! Cheers!

It felt soooo good to be back to civilization, for a day at least. All the foods, the clean feet, and a real bed! It’s funny how a small town can be so welcoming to a couple strangers and their packs. Between the lift to town and the loaned car, I enjoyed the people I met in Independence. 👌🏻I definitely recommend staying at The Courthouse Motel. #hospitality .

Drum roll please....After starting college in 2010, transferring colleges a bazillion and ten times, taking lots of time off to do cool things, switching majors, and never settling for a career that wasn’t a correct path for me... I am finally graduating in May 🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 it took so long I grew a mustache in the process. Ob-la-di, ob-la-da!
