Equine Choice Prebiotic & Probiotic
When giving a pre & probiotic supplement, we are attempting to mimic how a ‘natural’ horse would normally ingest pre & probiotic microorganisms in the wild. They ingest these microorganisms with every bite they take during their grazing times - and drinking from natural water sources. This is one of the primary things that support gut health and good metabolic function. Since the horse’s digestive tract is about 90 ft. long, and continually moving food through it, you can understand why just giving a probiotic supplement once a day might not be as effective as the horse needs. However, we can't stand there and sprinkle it on every single bite they take all day long!
When it isn’t possible to feed Equine Choice supplement twice daily, giving two scoops once a day is better than just giving one scoop. Giving only one scoop per day may not putting enough into the digestive tract to make a noticeable difference (we know it's helping, but perhaps not enough to give results you should be having). Underdosing is a common reason probiotic supplements were thought to be ‘useless’. Since the horse’s digestive tract holds about 45 gallons of digesta (sloppy green mush), underdosing the probiotic probably won’t get results that you can observe.
HOW TO USE Equine Choice
Horses that are undergoing metabolic or digestive related stressors such as; diarrhea, underweight, obesity, cushings, feed changes, weaning, heavy training/showing, strenuous physical exertion, transported, heat stress, poor dental function, and aging, benefit the most if they are given an initial loading dose of Equine Choice paste (20 cc for 8 days). The paste is super concentrated and has additional ingredients that support the body to rapidly improve digestive function. As the paste protocol is finishing, the horse is transitioned onto the Equine Choice supplement (granules) that is given at 1 scoop 2 x daily or 2 scoops/day. (Big horses or severe digestive problems can have 3 scoops/day)

Haven’t done a Friday Flashback for a while! So here is one today - only 19 years ago 😳 Time really does fly doesn’t it?!!! He went on to be a really nice show horse when he finished up on the track 👍🏻
If you have to escalate you should be stopping.⠀
How many of us have been told by coaches or trainers to increase the pressure when we’re asking our horse to do something? All of us I’d bet!⠀
There are so many training methods out there (some even claim to be “natural”) that advocate increasing the pressure until you get the result or any result 😲⠀
Put yourself in your horses’ feet for a minute, think about a time when you’ve had pressure placed on you, maybe you were at work or school and were being pushed to produce and answer or a result. With every ounce of increased pressure did you feel more able to produce that answer or result? Or did you feel a contraction, a shutting down of your system, did your ability to think become panicked? 😖⠀
Horses go through a very similar process when pressure is increased. If you’re lucky like me you’ll have a unique horse who goes the other way, stands up for herself and says “BACK OFF! So I can think!” 😤⠀
For most though they will go through their bag of tricks until they find the answer that makes the pressure stop. This might take a few seconds or it might take minutes… long minutes. When a horse goes through this process it creates negative anticipation and resentment.⠀
Consider how you feel when you have to go somewhere or do something you don’t enjoy. Perhaps your work place isn’t that nice a place to be. Make sure when you’re with your horse it’s a nice place to be.
Ahhhh I do love the big beasty!! Much love for Minnow tonight! 3 weeks off over Xmas, sat on her for the second time today and she worked super sweetly! Can feel myself starting to trust her more now so I am happier to let her stretch more and use herself in the correct way! Only a couple of weeks til our first clinic of 2019 so need to get my butt into gear!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 #aberystwythuniversity#equinelife#equineblogger#perksofthejob#excitingtimes#minnow#bigbeasty

It’s been a busy day for all of us here, Alex has been hard at work and me and Arthur went with him to take some photos and gather content for the new website and Facebook page. So pleased with the outcome, there are many more to come! Team work makes the dream work! @cazlchapman 🙌🏻🙌🏻
