  • We asked our dear friend @cee.byford to write a post for us; here is what this strong, inspirational woman has to say:

#SHAME

Shame is something a lot of us find hard to talk about, which isn’t ironic. Mainly because were unaware it’s shame we’re feeling, but also because it doesn’t feel right to share.

The whole idea that what we’re feeling or going through is "wrong" creates the compulsion to hide away & shrink... Shame in relation to mental health can have a big impact and may act as a driver to keep you stuck in the torment of your own demons and past.

Becoming aware of my own shame has been a MASSIVE eye opener for me.

Its not a instant repair, but I do feel I can finally say my mind is in a truthful healing process 🌸 allowing myself to accept I am feeling shameful for something gives me the ability to question "is this really valid to the situation"...? Talking to people I trust whole heartedly about the things I feel shameful for daily and realising I’m not so bad is a true comfort! Also this emotion really does not serve any positive purpose, solve the problem or make anyone else feel better. Please do yourself and everyone around you a favour & forgive yourself.

I see shame as permission to dwell, which hell, I have had enough of! And to this point it hasn’t lead to anything successful.

There’s no easy way to summarise this feeling or emotion without linking in lots of other factors and drivers. It’s also very subjective to the individual, but if you get anything from this small message, I hope it’s that it’s is totally O K to feel shame! But if like me you're fed up of dwelling, hiding and masking, please talk, spider diagram what might be making you feel like you're "wrong" or "invalid", ask for help - and from that point you will start to feel empowered.

Like anything else it takes practice.. take your time and heal your mind 💜 We asked our dear friend @cee.byford to write a post for us; here is what this strong, inspirational woman has to say: #shame Shame is something a lot of us find hard to talk about, which isn’t ironic.
