Are you trying something new?
Have you been building courage?
Does it feel like an enormous leap?
When I left full time employment to be a full time self employed artist it felt like a huge huge leap.
So I decided to stage manage the transition rather than jumping in both feet first! Here’s a few things I did to help me bit by bit... .
🎨 I used my commute to hatch an exit plan, build my website, sketch, apply for exhibitions and develop products .
🎨 I handed my notice in (3 months) and had a countdown on my phone .
🎨 I took one action towards my dream every day and posted that action on my @sammorriscowart page .
🎨 I stock piled toothpaste and coffee 🤣🤣 you can never have too much, right?! .
🎨 I created a portfolio of work during weekends and evenings .
🎨 I bought most of my kit with my employed salary .
🎨 I changed my social media profile descriptions to my future creative self .
🎨 I booked commissions, exhibitions and shows 1 year ahead .
🎨 I looked and found business mentors .
🎨 I designed my perfect working day .
🎨 I tested ideas and treated everything like an adventure .
🎨 everyday I took an action that generated income .
🎨 I made a dedicated creative working space .
So rather than jump in with both feet and be swept away, I eased myself into my future me, my ideal working day and created the space to make that possible .
Bit by bit is my mantra of the moment and if I look back that’s my style, that’s how I do things!
God wants ALL of your heart
Not some of it
Not half of it
ALL of it & it is so much better in His hands
You will seek me and you will find me when you seek me with ALL of your heart.
