As a writer, I like to 'people-watch'. But more often than not, I gravitate towards 'animal-watching'.
And this scruffy, street-smart mutt is one of my favourites. If you have ever hoped to run into Sirius Black's animagus in the muggle world, this dog would be Padfoot to the tee.
He has bags and bags of personality and treats himself as an unofficial warden/ tourist guide/ gooseberry for Bandstand.
I often see him accompanying a new, skittish pet with all the avancular charm of a veteran showing the ropes to a new intern. Sometimes, he settles himself down with a young couple about to dig into their dabba and gives them the genial doggy-smile that has the girl showering more love on him than his human counterpart. He frolics like a puppy around an overenthusiastic toddler but maintains his distance. He walks along steadily with a senior citizen, taking care to not come in the way of his/her walking stick.
Sometimes, he enjoys the simple pleasures of being a truly zen soul by splashing about in the sea and then drying himself vigorously as he makes wheelies to the sky.
When I was trying to take this photo, he was splayed out inelegantly. As soon he sensed my presence, he straightened up, fluffed up and struck a side-angle with flair. He then proceeded to saunter down and nudge me gently. I am fairly certain that he wanted to know if an amateur photographer had done justice to his street-king magnificence.
And ofcourse I showed him the pic.
I think he approved.
At least I would like to think so.
Stumbled upon this artwork of mine while doing some housekeeping
My final year project and my final academic stunt; submitting a “drawing of sculptures” in attempt to graduate as a sculpture major student from the academy. 😬 Man, those were the days
