  • Our (young) woman crush is Nobel peace prize nominee, 16-year-old @gretathunberg. The Swedish teen has inspired global climate strikes and has been at the forefront of the climate movement. She has galvanised teenagers to follow her lead in a movement that is being led by girls.

Women’s unequal presence in positions of power and participation in decision-making processes increases inequalities and often prevents women from fully contributing to climate-related planning, policy-making and implementation. And women are expected to be hit hardest by the impact of climate change; figures from the UN indicate that 80% of those displaced by its effects are women. 📷 @harleyweir Our (young) woman crush is Nobel peace prize nominee, 16-year-old @gretathunberg. • Who loves Lebanese food? This selection is from @thebakenewcastle 💚 .
.
Hummus beiruty (spicy hummus), tabouleh (parsley salad), falafel, moussaka (aubergine stew), batata hara (spicy potatoes) and bread. Dead easy to vegan-ise your Lebanese takeaway! 💪🏽.
.
Over the last 5 weeks, young people have been marching the streets around the world every Friday. They are striking school and sitting outside the Newcastle Civic centre to push policy makers to declare a climate emergency and inform the public what is truly at stake. Inspired by @gretathunberg 🌍.

Sometimes, I get asked what’s the point of making “small” lifestyle changes when truly, it’s large corporations to blame for the climate crisis? I feel conflicted about this often, but by eating plant-based food, I feel part of a movement, just like the School Strike movement. Of course, you save hundreds of lives + improve your health as added bonuses. But both these movements share the common value that knowledge is power, and if you have this power, turn it into action to better the world for future generations. Eating plant-based food is NOT a “small” contribution. It makes you part of something much bigger that is already happening. Without these “small” changes, there is no movement. And with no movement, there is no action. What’s yours going to be? 💪🏽👌🏽.
