Masala Chai latte tart
Ingredients are for one 20 cm tin
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup almonds, skin on
2 tbsp flax seeds, grounded
2 tsp cinnamon, grounded
2 tsp ginger, grounded
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp almond butter
1 Tbsp maple syrup
16 dates, pitted
Place the almonds and oats in a food processor and blend until finely ground.
Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until you get a sticky dough.
Press the dough firmly into the tart tin.
Place the tart in the fridge whilst making the filling. 。
1 3/4 cup almond milk @adez
1/2 cup full fat coconut milk
1-2 slices fresh ginger *
1-2 cinnamon stick *
2-3 whole green cardamom pods *
3 anise Stars*
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 1/2 tsp loose black tea leaves (you can also use a regular tea bag, if you don't have loose leaves)
1 1/2 tbsp corn starch
1 tsp agar *if you don't have the fresh ingredients, just sub them with dried, grounded version. (1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp cardamom, 1/2 tsp anise, 1/2 tsp ginger)@foodie.yuki
In a saucepan, combine the almond milk, cinnamon stick, anise star and ginger. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for a few minutes.
Add the tea leaves and let simmer for another minute.
Pass the mixture through a sieve and place it back to the heat.
Dissolve the corn starch and agar in 2 tbsp almond milk and add it to the mixture.
Simmer until it starts to thicken.
Add the coconut cream, whisk until well combined, let it cool down to lukewarm, stirring from time to time.
Pour the filling over the bases.
Place the tarts back in fridge to set for at least 1 hour. .

The British Nutrition Foundation released their new portion guide last week. .
Anything that helps people to control the volume of food they put in their mouth is good. .
It's not exactly a new idea, nutrition coaches like me have used similar methods for years. .
It doesn't replace Calorie counting, it's simply an alternative method of controlling energy balance. .
The BNF template is basic and generalised for general populations. If you need anything more bespoke you need to hire a coach. .
What often isn't talked about is that you can use this in place of a more contentious macro diet plan for performance too. .
