Sometimes the back of one of our stoneware plates can turn out just as wonderful as the front, so we took the opportunity to photograph this surprising little beauty under bright winter sunshine!
The lovely contrast of rusty brown and orange from the clay, with the stoney white edges brings a lovely warmth.
We might just have to use this one upside down!
Enjoy your weekends all.

Che dite, giochiamo? 🤗
When these plates from 2015 popped up in my Facebook memories, they were a bit painful to see. They basically represent a failed commission, at least in my eyes. The client seemed pleased, but I knew I had fallen short on seeing the idea through to it’s full potential. It was really the glazing that killed it. You know, something you toil over through a lengthy process and ruin in the home stretch? If you choose clay (or rather, clay chooses you) it’s something you learn to live with.
In the end, I’m glad I was reminded of them. It’s an idea I’d like to revisit, with a few more years of experience under my belt. #trytryagain
