I had no idea what to expect, but after seeing pictures, I knew this wouldn't be like any other restaurant. Walking in, I said to my friend that this reminds me of the 90s' restaurant glam featured on Sex and the City, the tv show and she responded that this is the restaurant where Carrie and Big held their enagement party in the first movie. But that aside, it felt like a very glamours version of an old bank's vault that you would see in Harry Potter or something you would expect to see in Crazy Rich Asians. It can seat 300 people. The food was also far better and cheaper than you’d expect from a place of this kind. We first had their best-selling Edamame dumplings in a shallot-sauternes broth. I am not a fan of edamame but I loved these dumplings. The edamame was in a pureed form, very creamy in a delicate wrapper. Second, we had the General Tso’s 🥟 (aka soup dumplings) which I thought tasted like pork but currently on the menu says it’s chicken with hot and sour broth. Then followed the Tuna Tartare Spring rolles with crispy shallot and ponzu. I ❤️ these!!! Last we had the Wild Mushroom Chow noodles with garlic chives and the Pecking Duck with cucumber, scallion and hoisin sauce. The duck was so soft, it melts as it touches your tongue. It was better than all the pecking ducks I had earlier this year in Hong Kong. If you are looking for an experience including beautiful restaurant ambience, then I’d definitely recommend you come here at least once.
