Freddy: “So , tell me, what about “don’t hunt the easter bunny” you didn’t understand ?!”
Mykie: “I thought he was stealing!”
Freddy: “Stealing ?? He gifts you!”
Mykie: “He looked mean !”
Freddy: “ No , he didn’t !”
Mykie: “Annnd he also looked realllly similar to normal bunnies you know ?”
Freddy: “ Even if , you shouldn’t hunt bunnies at all !”
Mykie: “Well .. I just forgot about it then..”
Freddy: “That’s great, because now WE have to do all the work from the easter bunny !🙃 Think about all the poor children who love the easter bunny !! They will be so sad ! ”
Mykie: “Don’t be so pessimistic, maybe he will come back next year!!🙈”

“Love is a special way of being alive...”
I’m not very close with most of my family, for varying reasons. But I am ridiculously close to my grandmother (babushka). She was my second parent, and she has been there for me through every single downfall and rise in my life. She is quite easily the absolute most important person in the world to me, and I love her more than I could possibly ever put into words. So obviously, her opinion is extremely important to me.
Yesterday, we took Haven and Lark (a border collie who lives with my Baba) on a hike. We got to spend hours talking, bonding over the dogs, and just enjoying some breathtaking scenery. I was so calm and happy, so rejuvenated. I haven’t felt that light in a very long time, and it reminded me the importance of making special time with our loved ones. But more importantly, my Baba absolutely adored Haven. And while that may not be of utmost significance to some, it spoke volumes to me. This puppy is so special. He has captured my heart, the heart of my family and friends, and everyone agrees what a perfect fit he has been for me.
I think truly special dogs, much like people, are few and far between. The dogs with a spark in their eye, the dogs who have an old knowing soul, the dogs that communicate with you through just a look. He reminds me so much of my first border collie Sadie, who helped me fall in love with the breed.
I guess this is just a longwinded way of explaining how happy I am, and how lucky I feel. Seeing my Baba and Haven interact confirmed to me how obviously he was meant to be in my life. Everything absolutely happens for a reason, and I truly believe Haven is here to make my life infinitely better than it has been. Every day I feel more and more blessed to have found him, and sometimes I can’t believe he’s mine. We have puppy class tonight with a couple of my clients, and I can’t wait to come home to my little nugget. The work days seem so long now, I just can’t wait to spend time with him again.
Anyway, thanks for bearing with my long and sappy thoughts for the day. 😂 Who is important in your life, and how do you show it to them?
