  • Happy #FeminismFriday everyone!! In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, we want to highlight the very important African-American female “human computers” who helped NASA launch the US into space 👩🏽‍🏫✏️📚🚀 These women, including Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, and Mary Jackson, helped blaze a trail for mathematicians and engineers of all races and genders to follow. 💜 Who remembers our Hidden Figures movie night social from last year?🤩 Happy #feminismfriday everyone!! • Sometimes the smallest interactions become the most memorable moments. You never know where they might lead you. #MicrosoftLife 📸 @esq1906 •

.
1999 - high school kid working at the St James hotel in Selma, AL. Checked Microsoft CEO Bill Gates in and carried his luggage up when he stayed there. He gave me a $5 tip. Primary obsession was getting my “new” computer to work and connect to the internet (AOL dial up) that was running Windows 95.
.
2019 - Working at #Microsoft as a Cybersecurity Attorney. On second day working... Got to meet Brad Smith, the President and Chief Legal Officer of Microsoft. .Thanks Nancy G. Sewell (then Selma High School librarian and mother of @repterriasewell) for allowing me to skip class... (she would literally give me a hall pass at anytime to come to the library) and for allowing me to stay in the school library until you left work in the evenings to use the school internet. She also said to us at least a few times a week that we were the “crème de la crème” and the cream always rises to the top. She was so important. #BlackHistoryMonth ✊🏾 #MicrosoftLife ” Sometimes the smallest interactions become the most memorable moments. • Today for #blackhistorymonth we are sharing one of our favorite quotes by Booker T. Washington! “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” Who has inspired you the most during #blackhistorymonth ? • Flashback to when Stella Got aka "Me" 🙋🏾‍♀️ Got Her Groove Back. (Originally posted 2/15/18 on @brandbuildlaunch)

I'm planning an event around the Black Panther movie release celebrating African Culture and comics. I tend to get super excited about an idea then in the same breath think of 5 ways it could be totally misunderstood. So, the idea was to do a style guide to give people some inspiration on what to wear to the movie. (Since we are all going ALL. OUT!) I knew how I wanted it to look, but my bank account had other plans.
One thing after another started to go left; I couldn't afford to get hair or make up, and the stores I was supposed to get clothes from flaked 48 hours before the shoot. I wanted to scrap the entire shoot...the biggest issue with quitting though was that I'd asked my son to be a part of the shoot.😟 My son and I have a pretty awesome bond, he's 17 an amazing illustrator, and I'm pretty sure he thinks he's an Avenger. He tried to act cool about the shoot,(like he was just doing me a favor) but the fact that he asked about it more than once let me know he was inwardly excited about doing it.
I had already booked the photographer, the models and the videographer. It was in that moment of being pressed from all sides (after prayer and a little nudge from a customer) that I remembered who I was! 🤳🏽😎 It was like the lid came off, I'm a grown woman, who's been gifted with a talent that I should not allow my own insecurities to diminish. It was just the perspective shift I needed to see all that was right there in front of me.
I had clothes, I had friends to help me,...I had weapons (thanks to my son) and most importantly I had vision...And THIS is what we created. The imagery was so amazing. Seeing my son's reaction to it all was priceless. I hope this encourages someone in someway to not second guess your God given talent. There will be obstacles, but they will bring out the best in you. Gold comes through fire. 🤜🏽💥🤛🏽
