I do not exactly remember when was the first time i read #Shaabnama. But I clearly remember that i was still in school. Since then i ve read it several times. The diversity of the book touching on #history, #religion, and #sufism makes it one of the finest #autobiographies. The tales of Shahaab Shaib's life are so majestic that they more often become a blend of 'fact' and 'fiction which makes this book all the more interesting.

It tells us about the life of a man who stood upright without compromsing on his principles and integrity. This book takes us back to the life we can only dream of but never have.

#Shahabnama is a lesson of #history in making, his daily routine, his schooldays with the plague in Jammu, Kashmir and its history, his experience as a Muslim in the pre-partition Indian Civil Service, the famine of Bengal, the political events leading to the partition, & creation of Pakistan. Which also later on continues to includes the early political scene of Pakistan.

This books leaves us to ponder over many aspects of life that we otherwise do not take notice of. This thoughtfulness reflects in his words. 👑گناه کا امکان گناه سے بھی زیاده خطرناک ہوتا ہے. 👑 بری بات کا امکان خون میں رچے ہوئے زہر کی طرح ہر وقت رگ و پے میں گردش کرتا رہتا ہے.

Shahaab Shaib's left many inspirational aspects for us to use as a food for thought.
The most intriguing part of this book for me was towards the end where it took a very spiritual turn. Although the book earlier also included the encounter with a spirit (you have to read the book to get details😊) but still *ninety's* role surpassed all else to catch my attention. This aspects confirms and intensifies the aura of mystery that shrouds his personality. (Continuing in comments).... • The first three books I’ve read this year so far. I’ve set a very lofty goal of reading 50 books by end of year. 😱Not sure I’ll even come close but I’m already down 3 and I’m working on #4 as we speak.
As far as a review - ▪️ The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur - Beautiful Book of poetry if you’ve just gotten your heart broken into a million pieces. As I was reading it I kept thinking, Where was this book 25 years ago when I needed this?!?! Perfect to give to your bestie who keeps choosing the wrong guy. 😟
🔹 Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff by Chip Gaines - I don’t watch Fixer Upper and don’t live in Waco so kinda knew about him just from ads, grocery store magazines at grocery checkout and flipping thru the TV. Honestly not much. But I love autobiographical books and ended up really liking this book. A great book for a new college grad, someone who has started their own business or anyone who loves to read. It’s more Life Coach than a tell-all but a quick read and made me want to go visit my friends in Waco! ❤️
🔺Carnegie’s Maid by Marie Benedict - I also love historical fiction. This didn’t disappoint. I learned a lot about the Carnegie family and life of the immigrants during the 1800’s. Wowza. Eye opening for sure. I’m now try to get in at least 100 brushings of my hair (not the 200 it was required of the Lady Maid to do to her charge) before bedtime. Honestly, I can tell a difference! Lol!!! Perfect book for book club or to give anyone who likes history.
💕💕💕💕
I’m currently reading another historical fiction about the French Revolution: Where the Light Falls by Allison and Owen Pataki. So far it’s riveting. What are you reading? I need suggestions to help me reach my 50!!

  • Today I rearranged my movie books. When I was done with the new arrangements, for some reason I zeroed in on my copy of #Joanfontaine’s autobiography No Bed Roses. I decided to look at the date it was published which was 1978. That makes my copy a first edition.
I’ve had this book for years. I picked it up from a library I worked at when it came in as a donation. In all these years I never really looked inside the book. When I opened it I found a note and a photo of who I am assuming bought the book. The letter he wrote is fascinating. He says he bought the book for his mother in San Francisco on the day Harvey Milk was assassinated. Seeing the note was cool but the picture kinda creeped me out a bit. Even though I find it creepy I won’t take it out because it’s a history of the book and a part of someone’s life they found interesting enough to document.
This is one of the reasons I love old books. You never know what kind of notes or something interesting you’ll find written in them from a previous owner.
