“[Art] is the beautiful by-products of what other people think and feel.” In the latest conversation, I discuss the meaning + significance of art with dancer, actor, director and all-around thoughtful artist @vinnybalbo. He shared inspiring insights on his unique creative process, what it is like being an artist in LA, and on directing & collaborating. It’s a great one, friends. ✨

❤️ if you like the color orange! 🔶🔶ORANGE ALERT🔶🔶 I have a theory.
If you want to sell something to the French, really anything, package it in white and blue horizontal stripes.
They love it.
They will buy the sh*t out of anything in those stripes.
You will make a mint!
I know have have been talking about the French a bit lately, but this one is for really real.
Although the French flag is simple, chic and easy to draw, it's wrong.
Why is your flag like everyone else's?
Aren't you better than that?
Many would say that you sure think you are better than just about anything and everyone.
Shouldn't your flag demonstrate that?
Here is what I propose.
Make your flag something that truly shrugs and walks away from the international community, while being connected to your heritage.
Switch your flag to a marinière (French sailor shirt). What other country has even thought changing their flag to a shirt?
You would be the first.
AND it's perfect for you.
It's a piece of fashion, vaguely homoerotic (just like you) AND you already have one in your closet!
It's so on brand.
Reclassifying one object as something with totally different meaning.
YOU INVENTED THAT.
Ask Marcel Duchamp, he agrees with me.
And if the Americans can turn a flag into a shirt. you can do the reverse simply to prove a point.
I mean, your protestors are named after vests for christ sakes.
It's not that far to go.
OK, back to orange, and France, we will be coming back to this at some point.
Just like you can use stripes to sell stuff to the French, you can use the color orange to sell stuff to the Dutch.
The Dutch will buy it if it's orange.
AND speaking of the French flag (the current one anyway). Do you know what it looks like?
The Dutch flag.
Do you know why?
Cause it's the same shape and colors.
Red, white and blue, on a rectangle.
You know what isn't the same shape and colors as the Dutch flag?
Should the French change their flag to a shirt?
We’re now officially in the shadow period of Mercury Retrograde (which starts July 7th) 🌙 But let’s change the perception of this period.
Mercury Rx gets a bad rep because it can bring up travel issues, communication problems, and a slowwwing down of projects and proposals.
But really, it’s a time of bringing issues to the surface so we can truly heal 🌸 it forces us to shed light on our shadowy selves, so we’re actually able to move forward towards our highest purpose. .
Mercury Rx is like a deep clean for the soul 🌱
So use this time to take a step back, think before you speak, double check your work, and release your emotions in a healthy way 💕 you’re on your way to greatness babe 🌕
