  • 💫Lot 37 caught my attention at the @woolleyandwallissalerooms yesterday in the specialist auction Cʟᴀʀɪᴄᴇ Cʟɪғғ, Aʀᴛ Dᴇᴄᴏ & Dᴇsɪɢɴ. Clarice was born and grew up in Staffordshire which became the centre of ceramic production in the early 17th century. She was such an important British ceramicist and remembered for her experimental and ingenious use of colour. I am immediately drawn to her expressive designs and colour.
Cliff’s rare ‘Appliqué Etna’ Bizarre 265 vase is hand painted and signed underneath. Her Bizarre Ware was a commercial success because of the Art Deco style and the affordability in the late 1920s. I adore this impressively designed vase, encompassing Cliff’s rich and innovative use of colour and her primitive shapes and designs. It brings me to a setting in Madagascar or India. An exotic sun setting over the Indian Ocean.
𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒇’𝒔 designs are now part of the @vamuseum Collections, there to teach new generations on what she had brought to Art Deco movement and the UK’s Ceramic Industry. 📍🇬🇧🔅 💫Lot 37 caught my attention at the @woolleyandwallissalerooms yesterday in the specialist auction Cʟᴀʀɪᴄᴇ Cʟɪғғ, Aʀᴛ Dᴇᴄᴏ & Dᴇsɪɢɴ. #instagraminteriorchallenge and today’s theme is #table

A flea market find 10 years ago, this vintage tripod side table (try saying that three times in a row) has been a constant companion ever since. Slightly worn, it’s authentically of the #midcentury era and we still like having it around.
