Repost from @hunterhooligan using @RepostRegramApp - As our videos circulate of the confrontation between Nathan Phillips and the men and boys Covington Catholic High School, I think that we must also focus on and discuss the original purpose of Friday’s Indigenous Peoples’ March. And that was to raise awareness of missing and murdered indigenous women. Indigenous women are disproportionately affected by crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, child molestation, human trafficking, sex slavery, abduction, and murder. @earthchores and I attended the march on Friday to represent the women in our own Mvskoke family who have been affected by these crimes and the legacy of intergenerational trauma that each generation has inherited during colonialism. This is a video of a circle dance done in dedication to those indigenous women who are no longer with us. “I know you are thinking of me, although you are far away, dear, no matter where you are— I still love you.”

Please do not let the boys of Covington Catholic High School completely overshadow the entirety of the march. It was a triumph and extremely necessary. It meant the world to be there and share space. I am honored, humbled, and grateful to have been part of Friday’s activities. MVTO! Repost and share to help spread the word about why we gathered on the Lincoln Memorial that day!
