Marin County, California has scores of groves of Redwood trees. But it also has many Palm trees, too. Talk about an abundance of nature!. BTW, you're looking at a few of #sanfrancisco#sfbayview just beyond #alcatrazisland as seen #marincounty#california has scores of groves of #redwoods. But it also has many Palm trees, too. Forgive me, I was endlessly drawn not only to the crumbling textures of the prison building itself, but to the strange dichotomy of the location: surrounded by the city, and yet so isolated. (And yes, I took piles of photos that are just textures: rust and crumbling walls, later upon layer of flaking paint, broken glass windows open to rain and wind and sky.)
Yesterday morning I was off to Alcatraz. @amehamelin, you were right -- the audio tour was excellent and the views were stunning. There were so very many stories in these crumbling walls, many of them dark, but I left feeling very glad that I had visited.
