  • ❤️Today, I'm grateful to have had Sophie curled up in my arms most of the day, for motivating me this morning & for calming my heart 💜

To help me feel a little more hopeful and a little less uneasy about feeling so lost, my amazing friend @taressclaire gave me "Am I there yet?" 📕@bymariandrew which has inspired me to photograph the things I'm grateful for.

At first, I tried writing it down after getting reassurance from the lovely @stellanewman_author_eater 👭that writing a short list, before bed, of what I was thankful for that day would help ease my anxiety and help me sleep better.

But that didn't really pan out. 🤨 (I couldn't write fast enough before my tired bf got cranky to turn off the 💡to sleep)

So...I'm changing things up by doing my gratitude list in a way I think will work better for me and that I'll be able to look back upon esp. during hard times when I need a reminder 💕📸 (my experiment)

🚨Anxiety, Gratitude, Happiness 
Since I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I've struggled with anxiety and its many guises. So I'm giving gratitude a go at hopefully helping me!

Practicing gratitude has been shown to increase happiness, health and alleviate anxiety. 🌟

It compliments what I learned about mindfulness @breastcancerhaven, by helping me to focus on the present moment and to feel the calming effect of recognising the good in life.

An article by @psych_today says "Feeling and expressing gratitude turns our mental focus to the positive, which compensates for our brain's natural tendency to focus on threats, worries, and negative aspects of life".....ie how my brain goes rampant, non-stop! 😫 https://bit.ly/2RLwsKh

By saying or writing down (proven to be more effective for most, incl. me) the lovely people we met, the pets we cuddled, the delicious food we tasted or the experiences we enjoyed that day and appreciated, positive feelings of joy and happiness pop-up! 💥Therefore helping to shush the negative thoughts and anxiety.
